I see on the DSTV forum that the long awaited local produced new UEC HD-PVR has been released and will be in stores during the course of the week. It will cost the same as the PACE one.

But we knew all of that already... We also know that it has exactly the same functionality as the Pace. I would personally still go for the Pace.

Does anyone know what they will retail for ? Is it the Pace one that retails @ R2999 ?

It will be the same price as the Pace decoder from what I've heard...

I wouldn't be surprised if the decoder prices jump up to R4000 again. I'm getting a Pace one today or tomorrow. If it breaks ill just ask for a UEC one when I swop it out.

Here is a more detailed comparison
Pics:

As you can see the UEC is slightly longer then the Pace

Some differences:
UEC processor is slightly faster, the overall performance & remote response is a little quicker
SatCR port is LNB 2, Pace has it on LNB 1. Makes no difference to anything though
HDCP problems, the UEC has not given me any, the Pace does sometimes when changing sources
RF output, UEC has a much better RF output
Boot up time on UEC is half the time of the Pace
Video stutter, this is the only real downside of the UEC. It occurs during playback & in the buffer. After fast forwarding the video freezes for a split second & the audio goes out of sync before it corrects itself about 5 seconds later. Small issue but quite irritating

There were a few other once off issues so at the moment I still prefer the Pace
