New World

I created my first char on a new Low pop server, but then I was 2000+ in a non-moving queue. I canceled and it seemed it placed the character on a full server instead of the one I selected.

I made a new char and then it worked. The game itself seems like it's very resource/farming focused vs fighting in your usual mmo's, but so far I'm liking it.

You could watch the LОТR trilogy, the extended version that is, and still be in queue.

Yea, the resource grind is real. There's an in-game economy but it's all player driver, no traders will buy or anything from/to you. You need to craft it all (besides loot you find or quest rewards) so gather as much as you can and tash it in storage if you aren't using it. Maybe this changes in the later game, but initially, just harvest everything.

Protip: craft your knife, axe and scythe as soon as you can.

They have promised free server transfers within the next 2 weeks, so roll on the server with the shortest queue, can always transfer after. When this happens it would be great if we could possibly get a South African company/guild going, and failing that, at least a bit of a South African community on a server. Not sure how many would be keen on this.

Yup good tip, you can do this right off the bat soon as you hit that starter area. Just pick up a few flint and gather some green wood from bushes and you can make em all.

Yea that would be cool. I created a company - then discovered an unclaimed fort and went to claim it like an absolute boss.

Then realised you need 100,000 gold to claim it and realised I am not, in fact, a boss; merely an insignificant mosquito turd floating in the repulsive miasma of my own misfortune.

So, you could join my company if you like, depending which world you're in.

Haha, thanks dude appreciate it, I am on EU Central:Niflheim. But if that is the wrong server and Im guessing thats real likely, we can just wait for the transfer options to be announced and make a call from there.

Yea I’m on some other one. Kilidan or something, I’ll check later.

So you can basically expire your refund period waiting in a queue before even trying the game?

Oof.

That's a hard pass.

Well we've since learnt a bi. Don't join a full server - in fact they added a change where you cannot create a character in a full server. On the server I'm on now there is no queue time at all.

It's a problem though, I also started on the freshest low pop server I could, and 4-5 days in I'm queuing up to about 200 people, in another few days its just going to get worse :/

I started at least the day Amazon added more servers and have not been in a que since starting to play. Playing on the Kerguelen server in Central EU

I started over on a new server, Dry Tree. No queue times but busy enough to still feel like a proper MMO experience.

In terms of the game itself, I'd say yes.

However, there are new stories about the game killing GPUs, so it's a risk until it's definitively fixed.
Thanx
There is no way in hell I will risk playing a game knowing it might kill my 2nd hand 4GB 1050Ti that rocks 99% of games out there in 1080P 60fps.

Anyone had their GPU pop because of this game?

Specifically affects RTX3070> users.
