New World

Seems to be an issue with manufacturer. E.g. EVGA & Gigabyte. Jayz does some testing below.

It was like 20 3090's that broke, so not a major problem.

I have only heard of 3xxx series GPUs being affected and even then relatively rare, that said I probably would not risk it if I owned a 3xxx series GPU personally. Just hope that Amazon and the hardware manufacturers figure it out.

have no idea what the **** a 3 series GPU is but I do know with a BMW
And that is what my 1050Ti is worth, a BMW

There is no fooking chance in hell I will risk being a statistic at #1 of 1st fried 1050Ti for a New World game.

Yes we are a South African Company within New World. We are ever growing and we have around 10+ lvl 60's already. and a total of 20+ players thus far. If you are keen on joining us, we are on the Tir Na Nog server currently looking into moving servers.

We have a current poll on our discord to see where we will be moving too. as we want all South African Players on one server to join the Wars.

So what do you guys think? Worth it? I played wow for 12 years, but stopped about a year ago. What realms/servers are you guys on?

The game is really good. Quite a number of SA Players as well. Current peak player count around 600k.


We are currently on Quivira and Tir Na Nog Servers. Waiting for the server move functionality then we all moving to the Quivira Server. About 80 SA players thus far.

Nice. Can you move characters between servers? Busy trying to figure out how classes etc works.

Amazon is waffling on the server migration, so we'll have to wait and see.
The game itself is very grind intensive (I'm only about lvl 18 or something though), but on the other hand it's not that expensive, so it's probably worth it.

I expect though that after the initial rush a lot of people are going to stop playing.

If you miss that feeling of just being lost in this world where exploration feels good and quite immersive, and you are willing to forgive the game for a few of its rough edges, then yeah totally worth it. Visually the game is a treat and the same can be said for the audio, they really nailed it insofar this is concerned. Also felt like a real MMO to me, I actually had several random interactions so far with other players, not sure if all of the servers are like this though. In WoW if you say "hi" to somebody out in the open world you generally get ignored, it is not that sort of game anymore sadly. The rough edges are there and I know it is more or less expected for a new MMO, but I am going to mention it so you know what to expect. Sometimes the combat can feel a bit janky, but some weapons feel better than others in this respect. Also the mob AI can do some weird things sometimes. Playing on Dry Tree Central EU.

Amazon have stated there will be a free server transfer option in the coming weeks (onetime use I think), not sure exactly when though. There are no classes in this game, or rather, your weapons are your "classes". Leveling weapons does take a fair bit of time, but the first couple abilities become available quite quickly so you can get a handle on the playstyle to some extent early on. So I would absolutely recommend in the first 20 levels to experiment as much as possible and find something you like (respecs are free for the first 20 lvls)

I am tempted but on the server that I am on (Dry Tree) I did find a really nice company so it would be hard to part ways. I wasn't even planning on looking for a guild so early on, was just leveling casually and ran into a group of purples that started helping me out even though I was a green. Long story short I ended up switching faction to join up with them. Very happy with the guild. Good to hear there is big South African interest in the game too. I may check it out though, thanks for letting folk know.
 
I've seen all the posts and articles about the GPU issues. I was reluctant to get the game as I have a Gigabyte RTX 3070 OC (think it's the Eagle OC) but ended up buying the game and capping my fps in game to 60 to be safe. I have almost everything at max settings and constantly monitor my temps etc. while playing. I have yet to have a problem and my temps for my GPU have never gone above 57°.

I'm not saying that no one will have the issue but I just took the advice of someone with the same GPU and what they did and neither of us have had a problem yet. Thought I'd let anyone who is curious in on my experience. Besides the initial anxiety and high ping, I'm thoroughly enjoying the game.

Issue with New World isn’t temps, it’s voltage. Keep an eye on voltages and wattages, that’s what’s killing cards.
 
Are any of you still playing New World? Looking at picking it up with week. What servers are you playing on at the moment?
 
Haven't played in a while.

Fear of exploding GPU sort of put me off.
