Possibly.

I streamed Google I/O's keynote live over 1Mbps, it was okay (240p)

Think it depends on the price.

I am looking at a new HTPC as we speak, one of those hp micro servers goes @ about R1500 + GPU @ about R400 = just under 2k for an entry level HTPC (excl. HDDs, remotes etc).

If the new Xbox goes for about R5k +, I would not be able to justify it as a standalone HTPC. So for non gamers its a no brainier...
