News Coverage on Afrihost problems

Why does mybroadband news report on downtime at Amazon/NSA/Vox/MTN/DSTV/Seacom/Gauteng Province/Twitter, but when Afrihost has two major incidents in two consecutive days not a word is said?

These issues are real and real money was lost due to these incidents. My servers were inaccessible for nearly 10 hours yesterday and 6+ hours _down_ today.

No contact from Afrihost, avoidance of the subject on social platforms, account manager not answering his phone....

How's some reporting on it?

They reported the problem on their website, as well as on facebook, and their phone is working fine.
 
OP is referring to news reports. I didn't know about it. Never saw it on mybb. I'm sure I was on their site yesterday, didn't see anything. They are a sponsor here I think. Maybe don't bite the hand that feeds you applies.

Afrihost had datacenter outages, right? I've never seen "news reports" on either Mweb or Hetzner or Web Africa when they've had DC outages.
 
In all honesty there wont be news... But the forum certainly covers the story. So why not just look here for current events :) Or even ask around if its not up on a frontpage somewhere :)
 
You know I agree with this. I have been a fan of Afrihost for a long time but in the last few months all hell has broken loose with their hosting and their service has been utterly poor. I feel if this was possibly another ISP MyBB would report on it.

I actually feel bad now because I have recommended my clients, friends and others to Afrihost.
 
Again...this is seriously causing me to consider if I should remain with them, I currently have many products from them.

I have always been a loyal Afrihost customer, even after things happen like private information from clients become public (whole google saga thing the other day), but seriously now, has anyone noticed the increase in complaints about bad service from Afrihost on the forums lately? They have been increasing each day. I wonder if they are starting to drop the ball, would be a shame though.
 
Hi All,

I actually was going to post a thread today about Afrihost Enterprise Cloud Hosting. We placed an order on the 11th January for Enterprise Cloud Hosting.

The service and support we have received has been BEYOND terrible. I would strongly caution anyone against using afrihost for anything besides ADSL.

A brief history of our experience:
1) Server was deployed on the clientzone for almost 2-3 days before we actually received any login information. We requested cPanel which took another 24 hours
2) Root password that was provided was incorrect and the support request for this took over 24 hours to execute
3) "Storage Cluster" downtime on 13/01/2014 (Reduced Storage Capacity)
4) Wednesday 22nd January - Reduced Performance on Data Store
5) Friday 24th January - Complete downtime. Server unavailable at 6:40pm
The last issue was resolved in over 12 hours.

We lodged a complaint with the above asking them for an explanation. 2 days later not a SINGLE response to the ticket.

We have hosted everywhere from local co-located storage to the international players such as Rackspace, Blue, FortressITX and this level of service is completely unheard of.

To me it is very evident that their paradigm of "best effort" for ADSL is being translated into server hosting which is unacceptable.
