news.isdsl.net Authentication Errors

Indeed... Id love for IS to create a more redundant server but i guess that costs money...
 
i think they would save in the long run as the traffic is only going from the news server to client :) i guess if bandwidth ever gets to the price that it was before the 3gig *** then we will always have the option of using international news boxes ....
 
Tried some "free" news servers earlier but had little to no success with em...
IS can really make some money if they create a few paid news servers. Local bandwidth is really cheap and us leechers will do anything to download international content via their servers, they just need to understand that little fact... Im not sure y they cant tho?!
 
Just noticed something. news.isdsl.net and news.is.co.za are both pointing to the same IP: 168.209.98.66

Was this always the case? I don't think so. :confused:
 
Very interesting find... Maybe the proper news.isdsl server crashed or something.
 
It's back to full speed, im getting 40k again and news.isdsl.net and news.is.co.za are pointing to seperate IPs now so i think one of the server's must have crashed.
 
400kb/s yes, this is the life *sits back and watches the gigs fly
 
I must be on a crappy section of the network - getting between 10-15Kb's on 384.

400Kb/s - wooot?! If only I could borrow 30 of those...
 
I manage to get a varied speed of about around 100kb/s on a 4mb line. Its not 100% but its more than Ive been getting in a good few days so I will grab it with both hands. Even tho its slower and takes more time id rather use it cause....the thought of wasting precious saix gigs kills me :D
