Newsgroup recommendation

Just recently subscribed to nzb.su for nzb files.
Got tired with all the free ones going down/issues with limits etc/

$14 a year so damn cheap.

For usenet, try newsgroup.ninja. Also pretty cheap around $40 a year.

How does this work...

I have fiber now so can sail the high seas for Linux distros.

It's an indexer - so you just download NZB's from them - like a private torrent site type thing.

It's not access to the backbone / network which allows you to download content. That's a usenet account / provider.

I want something like the old DC++ servers.

The users on there took great care to organize everything into logical folders.

It was absolutely wonderful for content discovery.

Today torrenting for Linux distros feels like a tremendous chore, because I need to know beforehand what I want whereas on DC++ you sucked someone's dick for upload slots and then you had his entire collection at your disposable and it's normally carefully curated content.

I had a nzb.su account a couple of years ago - they started dropping back on aggregations, so moved to NZBGeek
 
NZBGeek is working perfectly for me. Paid for as well.
SABNZBD is struggling to download at optimum speed though. I am getting 4KB/s mostly nowadays.
I think I need to buy another usenet block account.
 
I usually get line speed (100Mb) on my Vipernews 50Mb account.... although - expired - so need to find a new one over the weekend, might stick with them.

Been using Tweaknews for the past few years. Very rarely run into issues with missing articles.

That said, having moved to an IPTV service and with the amount of VOD content available, I hardly use news services anymore. They get the stuff and I stream it, no headaches and manual interventions if something is missing. I only use news for something specific that I want that I can't find on my IPTV provider...
 
Went with a free-usenet.com 2Tb block account for $25... the post above made me realise we don't download as much anymore - lookingat my stats, only 120Gb this month.
 
Is there an Android app that can be used to download? Think there was something like powerNzb a while back.
 
Been using NZB360 since beta days, worth the money on the Pro version, it still gets updated constantly.

Was going to suggest that, but it seems powerNzb is for downloading direct to your phone whereas nzb360 is a interface to other apps.
