Try that.

It's very slow, connection errors etc lately... just test a 'cached' file first to see if it's working, but if you get errors etc after a while, leave it and eventually it will start - that's all it needs to do is start - then u know it works.

For now, (last 5 minutes here) it says 'error connecting' but after 15 ± minutes, it connects but d/l's very slowly (100kb ±)

Normally on cached stuff you can get upto 400kb a sec.
But for the last few days, I've been struggling to get that (I get max 240± kbps)
Rumors have it - the servers are down or something.
Some stuff comes fast, others dont (we talking bout cached stuff here)
The uncached stuff, well, they come in at their normal slow speeds of 100± kbps.

Well since when have you been using the newsservers?

Early 2006 for me, and then IS Newsserver was running fullspeeds on even uncached stuff.

Then everyone joined! :(

Comments like "I doubt it..." is based on what?

On the fact that I know it's not true.

I've read posts (on other forums) that SAIX is down for maintenance (1 site) and is completely down (on another site) etc - thus the bad speeds.

Throttling during teh week working day is another thing

On some stuff, I get full speed but on others, horrible speeds.

I doubt its anything to do with "alot of people" using them.

If anything, that should help stuff getting cached and staying cached.

That's my point exactly, but for some reason on IS it doesn't work like that.

have you tried Axxess?

Nah, haven't tried axxess ;)

Oh, when you quote and aim it at something specific, instead of 'bolding' it... just delete everything else and leave what you want.

It's sorta irratating when someone quotes EVERYTHING you said :D

I looked at Grabit for an hour today, tried to suss out this news server shyte. Now I'm uninstalling :p

Could they have made it any more user unfriendly? Now I have to pay 5c somewhere to continue using the search feature lol. And the downloads I have started are not downloading at all. Unable to connect. And the downloads come in hundreds of parts with some seemingly missing.

Nah this aint for me. :/ :(

IMHO Grabit is the friendliest grabber by far...;)

Just leave it on, it will start eventually...

It's very useful when it's working... other than that... yeah, I agree.

Probably made by some lazy ass american or really lazy south african :D

OK I will try be patient :)

What news servers are there locally?

I see there is a SAIX and an IS one. SAIX seems to be giving probs at the mo.

Are there any other local ones?

And how do you search for more stuff if you gotta pay somewhere? Where I don't know :p lemme look

When working properly, teh SAIX news server is way better than the IS news server.
I know, I've used both.. SAIX is the faster of the too, especially on 'uncached' stuff.

Ahah!! something is happening. Now to figure out why the freak this download starts at part 68 and moves on.

Also crawling very sloooow. Around 3 KB a sec :(
