no - have you seen the after effects of the surgery. gas build up, can't throw up etc etc etc. there are too many side effects of this surgery. this is not like a normal surgery like having your appendix out now is it. also just learned he can't take the nexium because he has had hepatitis in 1997 and this pill is no good once you've had hepatitis. so he is going to stick to the altacec, however you spell it.
I went through a year of Nexium and some generic version later when the Nexium did not work.
I was on 40mg in the AM and 40mg in the evening. The stuff made me go mental - literally. Confusion reigned. Read up on the side affects - I had them all.
I eventually had enough and asked my Dr (Zaidi or something at Linksfield) to do the op. He hummed and haaad and said 50/50 chance of it working with xyc potential problems afterwards. I never saw him again. No prepared to let someone op on me that is only half sure it will work.
A friend recommended Prof Van der Walt in Pretoria. I went to see him end of last year. Told him about the concerns I had based on what my previous Dr told me and he chuckled.
He gave me his stats. 95% success rate with 3% returns. Good enough for me so I went for it.
Note: He diagnosed my hiatus hernia as one of the largest he had ever seen.
My life is different now because of this Dr. I hold him in the highest regard. He really knows his stuff.
I am 100% back to normal. Zero, zilch, nada of the original symptoms that eventually ended up with the diagnosis.
He is however not cheap. Make sure you have medical aid, gap cover and deep pockets if you see him. It is worth it to spend the money on a Dr that knows what he is doing and is confident in his own procedures.
Another plus was a 10kg weight loss during the recovery diet period
Oh - and I can munch all the chilli I want again
EDIT : My bad. Never realised that I had already explained half of my post elsewhere in the same thread. Getting old it seems.
Well at least you have the complete story now
