I was walking past Carphone Warehouse today and noticed they were advertising the 8GB iPhone for £169. I know the price had come down when the 16GB version was released, but I don't recall it being that low, so I checked Apple's website - they still have it for £269. Hopped over to the iPhone page on CW's site, and saw "until 1 June"

Makes me wonder if that's when the new one will ship?

Who knows :) There have been reports of the iPhone 2 popping up all over the place. It does look pretty interesting - proper GPS, 3G and completely black among other things. It would be so amazing if we got it here in SA!

One thing that is for certain is that the 8GB iPhone is being discontinued in Europe.

certain as in officially disconnected, or certain as in all things indicate? If the 8GB is discontinued officially, then that might explain the drop in price.

Vodacom would have to do something about their crazy data rates before I'll even consider switching to an iPhone.

I like being able to use my current phone and not having to worry about how much data I'm using.

Just saw the O2 store had the same £100-off deal.

Dammit, on the one hand, £169 for an iPhone is almost too good to miss, but on the other hand, a month and a half wait isn't too bad either. I guess I'll wait and see what happens.

But you'd expect a price increase then?
