Nexus Prime

I am in 2 minds over the Note or the Nexus. May just go for the Note as I am after the big screen.

You cannot compare the Nexus to the iPhone 4S at all. As it stands the GS2 trumps the 4S.

The only thing the Nexus and the 4S share is the GPU. Same as iPad2.
Everywhere else the Nexus is streaks ahead.

got a little size comparison, doesn't look to bad

The thing that I like the most about the Nexus, is that Applications developed on it will also work/look better on the tablets

Remember that the Nexus line is mostly aimed at developers to get the Pure android experience, and to be honest we need a cheap tablet testing platform. Emulation for honeycomb sucks big time and not every developer can go out and buy tablets. So a device thats cheap(contract based) and can be used to test tablet applications(resolution) on is very much needed.

anyone know where we can pre order one here in SA?

Last I saw they were being released in the UK 1 Nov or somewhere around there.
I was going to import one (if they did not come here quick enough), but decided I am rather going for the Galaxy Note.

Not sure dude. I was just entertaining the thought until I decided to move on to the Galaxy Note. I have seen around the forums here that some guys have imported tablets and stuff so I am sure a quick search should come up with a few links.

what made you move from the GN to the note?

First was the larger screen. I am looking for something that will meet me in the middle between a tablet and a cell. Tired of lugging so many devices around. The Note seems to meet that need. Not as big as a tablet but larger than a phone.

The Note also has an MiscroSD slot. Nexus does not.
The Note has an 8MP camera and the Nexus a 5MP. Samsung reckon the quality of the pictures on the Nexus ribal the new 8MP so this seems to not matter toooo much. I use my SGS2 a lot for pictures though so camera is important and don't want to chance it. Secondary camera on the Note is higher than the Nexus too (1.3MP vs 2MP).
The Note has a dual core 1.4Ghz and the Nexus a dual core 1.2Ghz. Reviews show that the Nexus is actually a 1.5Ghz under clocked to 1.2Ghz though. True/Not True... Not sure. All of these device can be overclocked though (SGS2 from 1.2Ghz to 1.6Ghz so far - safely), so not worried about this. More concerned with the actual clock speed at launch. Can just over clock it if needing more.
The Note has a 2500maH battery vs the Nexus 1750maH battery. They both have large screens so going to chomp up a bit of these big batteries. Prefer the MUCH bigger one :)
The Note has a stylus which can come in very handy for recording meetings, taking notes, etc... We often draw diagrams in out meetings and it will be handy to do this stuff. Check out what the HTC Flyer is capable of with this functionality and you will get an idea of what the Note will be able to do.

The Nexus has a bigger screen compared to my SGS2, but with the Nexus having soft buttons as part of the UI vs the SGS2 capacitive buttons outside the screen, I will pretty much end up with the same screen size. Although the 720p will squeeze more stuff in. So while it will be a bit better than my SGS2 it does not feel like a big jump up. The Note however feels like a significant jump up for me.

Some of this is of course my own opinion. Been spending a long time mulling over the Nexus or Note and the Note is winning each time I have a "mull over" session :)

cool, If you happy with the size the note is a very good device.
A reason I prefer having two separate devices. i.e. a phone and a tablet is mainly cause of the battery life and since I travel quite a bit, its good to have a back-up communication device.

Galaxy note TV Add Spotted, also has no clue if its a phone or tablet :)

Yup, currently i'd lean more towards a ICS galaxy note than the nexus. For all the reason posted. It's either that or getting a smartphone AND tablet which is so much more eina... Although the deals vodacom have on do look attractive. Tough choice. But having just one device is much simpler and easier.
