NHI war is just getting started

NHI war is just getting started

The Department of Health has scored a victory in an early legal battle over the NHI - but opponents promise that the war has just started.

The way I read the judgement its not a legal victory in relation to NHI specifically, more just that the courts can't stop a government department from doing prep work for a piece of legislation before it is signed into law by the president.

They're already recruiting for NHI vacancies but currently there are massive staff shortages. Make it make sense!

There will always be positions for connected cadres. Building a new sustainable patronage network is the whole point of NHI.

health products procurement
The Government is going to be in charge of "procuring" all medical products.
And you thought the plundering at Eskom was bad ........ just wait.

There will be no wars. The courts are behind the NHI and the ANC. The only war will be that in the election talk and heads of the opposition. The NHI will go through and soon too.

And yet there are thousands of junior doctors sitting without jobs because apparently there are no positions for them.

Any doctor not employed by the state will need to leave the country. So choose your studies well when you are young in SA. Why spend years on something where you will likely not find employment in your country.

Don't come here with facts, that doesn't gel with the clickbait media narrative...

That's only the junior doctors, there is no hiring happening at any of the government hospitals so its hard to measure how many vacancies there actually are.

There's a demand for Specialists and Doctors worldwide. Expect a mass exodus if NHI is signed into law. I for one would rather go see a sangoma than go to a NHI hospital.

I have used government hospitals my entire life, nothing wrong with it. You Woolworths supporters must get off your high horse about this Medical Aid that you so disaprove of.

Went to a meeting with John Steenhuisen last night in PE.

He described NHI as "Eskom for hospitals and doctors".

'Nuff said.
To be fair though, he isn't more qualified to make that statement than any of us.

The DA hasn't proposed a better solution, which they should be doing.
The current health system is on a one way trajectory

Good luck to you.

I'd rather wait 3 days to see a doctor than have smoke blown up my ass.

The same doctors work in public and private, private just has more resources.

Go read what I quoted. My statement is correct. Specifically referrenced Junior.
