Nintendo plans new Switch games

Out of everything you mentioned, the only game I would buy is Zelda. We're not in the same demographic here. I'd rather just upgrade my PC with an RTX 3070. I'd be buying a Switch to basically play Zelda and Mario games. Not sure if I'd care for anything else. So at the very least, Nintendo can provide an ounce of horsepower so the console doesn't look crap when docked into a TV.

100% and I fully understand. Its always best to get the most of ones money being spent.

You quoted the comment I made about people always "waiting for the next best thing".

Waiting for the next best thing is something a friend of mine always did. If you upgraded to Windows 7 he'd wait for the better thing.
Heck if it was him commenting here he would rather wait for the RTX 4 series.

For a portable console i'd be happy if it performed at OG PS4 levels. Then you could get solid 1080p, 60fps in many games. You always have to temper your expectation with a handheld console. But the rumours of 4k game development are very intriguing, I have no idea how they could manage that.

Well, I mean... they aren't really, not for a handheld console. They are about as fast as it was possible to get in 2017 and still maintain decent battery life, casing, and controllers. For a console of course it's only marginally faster than the Wii U but that's not what it is fundamentally.

Yep. I just replaced two of my Joy Con analog sticks because they were both janky. They really cheaped out on those. They aren't even very ergonomic, the right one hurts my thumb. I'm tempted to get these:

But as mentioned, the Nintendo games such as Zelda and Mario run along beautifully and look great on the big screen. I'm not sure why you are waiting for a beefier console and saying the specs are crap when it doesn't really matter for your needs?

Nintendo gamers don't give a schit about specs, it's about the unique games and user experience. As you said, if I was you I'd probably best to stick with your PC and not get disappointed. Next gen Switch will pale in comparison to next gen PS and XB and there is no catching up, it's not what Nintendo is about.
