Nintendo Switch sells like crazy

Yeah I'm not surprised, it's an amazing little console. But there are plenty of teething issues so I'm waiting for a few months before committing.

This is Nintendo, the Wii sold like mad, until everyone realised it wasn't that great and it sat in a lot of cupboards gathering dust. Strangely enough the Wii U didn't sell like mad, but maybe cause of the name.

Bring on the games that aren't Zelda, then we talk.

Wii U had a lot of problems, the least of which was the name. But my kids still play Wii so I dunno what you're talking about :p

Most people bought it for the novelty. Once that wow factor wore off the games weren't really that good.

There were plenty of good games. Mario Galaxy 1&2, Xenoblade Chronicles, Donkey Kong Country, Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Metroid Prime 3, RE:4, Sports Resort, New Super Mario Bros, No More Heroes 1&2. It had an awesome library of family games and I can still find new games for the kids to play.

That's one of the big problems, not many third party games and a lot of people bought the console but didn't buy many games. In fact most stuck with the one that came with it. Also those games you've listed would've been a lot better on waggle-less remotes, especially the two Zelda ones, felt like the movement controls were shoe-horned in

Just dance for the Wii still sells to this day.

Not a stellar game there to be proud of :-). Just saying the problem with Nintendo is the lack of third party games, I had a cube, I had a GBA and I had a Wii, there were plenty of Mario, Zelda, Metroid and remakes. I mean how many times can RE1 and 4 be remade? Then again how many times can Super Mario be remade.

Nintendo consoles aren't meant for the dudeBro gamers that like cod or battlefield.

Once you get past that, they're awesome.

I think in the end it sold around 500 million games in total, which is pretty great. There were some of those super casual Wii Sports gamers who never bought another game, but I don't know how accurate your view is there. It was certainly aimed more at younger kids and casual gamers, but if you happen to have young kids like I do, it's still kind of a perfect console for them.

On Zelda TP the motion control was actually great for things like aiming arrows and boomerangs; on SS I loved the motion controls except for the stupid bird flying which was complete hell. The problem is the controls took away other control options like dual analog sticks so you were somewhat limited in options - hence why Mario Galaxy didn't have true 3d gameplay - but it wasn't terrible; for certain game styles motion control is far superior to analog sticks. In FPS games for instance you can get much more accuracy; so the Metroid Trilogy Wii games are usually considered the superior versions due to motion aiming.

Hated the motion controller, having to have your hand up and trying to wiggle it, yup all Nintendo games and the top three were all part of bundles for new accessories or the console itself. Not really a good show when your top selling game is only there because it was bundled with the console.

so wiht the portability of the switch.

and the fact Nintendo owns pokemon.

I wonder if they are going to release any of the current pokemon games for the swith....

The price of games sort of put me off at this point, I'll wait a couple of months to see what happens. Most of my PC and PS4 games were bought on sales. We still use our original Wii weekly :)

Yeah you didn't like Wii, I got that. If it makes you feel better, I also didn't like the way that a lot of Wii games were dumbed down compared to N64 and Gamecube. It wasn't so much a console for people like me, but it's just about perfect if you have a family with kids - it was super cheap, durable, and it had an amazing library of family games. Even smaller games like Kirby, WarioWare, New Mario etc are amazing for the children.

:wtf: how can any console game possibly sell better than a bundled game? You can't really paint the Wii as a failure though, because it clearly wasn't.

Not painting the Wii as a failure, I'm just saying for a lot of people it was a novelty console. My folks even had one, my gran old age home had one.
