Nitrogen vs compressed air in tyres tested

You left out the main reason why people go for Nitrogen.

Your tire pressure stays stable as Nitrogen doesn't leak through the rubber as much as air. I top up my tires ones a year with Nitrogen on my Megane RS EDC. That alone makes it worth it for me.

My tire pressure is stable when heated or when cold on Nitrogen. With air your tire pressure will go up by 0.2 to 0.5 bar when the tires are up to temperature. With Nitrogen it changes by 0.1 to 0.2 bars.


Nitrogen Advantages Summary:
Stable tire pressure when tires are up to temperature and cold.
Dont have to take the risk of using the faulty garage units on a weekly basis due to air leaking out of the rubber. Free top up once a year at a reputable establishment.

Sports tires gets more sticky with heat, thus the extra heat from the nitrogen is a bonus on sports cars. What tires was tested, what is their ideal operating temperature window ?

Air does not leak out of rubber :rolleyes: If you are having to add air to your cars tyres regularly then you have a leak somewhere.
 
99% of people who think filling their passenger tyres with Nitrogen is somehow better, also believe masks/lockdowns/Covid vaccines work.

Gullibility is profitable.

I was thinking of launching ginger and honey contact lens solution to assist with diseases to help prevent flu in winter

I suggest you go and verify, your views does not line up with tests and science.

You are referring to osmosis or permeation of air through rubber which is not a leak in my view and will not cause anywhere near sufficient loss of air pressure to warrant even monthly top ups.

Please, so share a test/study where 100% Nitrogen vs normal ambient air resulted in a significant difference in that it warrants filling your passenger tires with it.

I know how it feels to be taken for a p0es, mate. I got 2 Pfizer jabs.

See, I thought that .. but honestly, I noticed fluctuations in tyre pressure when I filled up with air. Since I've put Nitrogen, it doesn't fluctuate.

Glad it has worked for you, I have never experienced massive fluctuations in my tyre pressures, unless there was some form of damage or a faulty valve.
 
So the driver is heavy or the test was done with more right turns or both.

nitrogen works better than air.

It's because nitrogen becomes solid when in the dark

To fill with nitrogen they unplug a hose from an air point and plug it into a nitrogen point without any subsequent purging. This meant that I was getting mainly the existing air in the line. The next guy getting air probably got my nitrogen.

I also tried monitoring the temperature with a FLIR camera after getting off the motorway. This measures the temperature of the tire itself rather than the gas inside, but the conclusion was the same as the article (because I probably had air in the tires). The biggest difference seemed to come from getting the right inflation pressure, with checking it against a calibrated gauge. Some petrol stations have gauges that are significantly in error.

A minimum of 90% of the tyre inflators are not accurate because they never send them into us for calibration
The only time they will be calibrated is when we repair them.
