Nkandla Freeway Corruption Potentially Exposed...

But we the taxpayer have got no business dictating how he spends his earned salary. Do you care how the local public servant such as a cop or a nurse spends their salaries? I think not.

I get very interested when a cop spends way more than he earns. It is a key indicator of corruption.

I say until someone can prove that the R1.5 billion to build the road was allocated from a government department there is no story here. We are still at a conjecture stage. Surely a simple audit of the relevant departments (Public Works and Human Settlements ) should reveal such a huge sum going to Korong Capital Partners.

So being lied to is fine?

Waar daar 'n rokie is is daar 'n vuur, just replace "Zuma" in each post with "De Klerk" and watch the curmudgeons rise to lament the corruption

According to Alex Eliseev, the presidency (probably meaning that tool Maharaj) affirms that Zumatello does have a bond with a national bank.

Well, that's okay then. I mean Maharaj is open and honest.

If he has a bond on the property, its in the public records... that he cannot hide. So produce the documentation Mac my son...

Unfortunately when you run for public office, your life becomes public. That is the nature of the beast. Secondly, I absolutely care when government overspend on a project of this nature by up to 2200% more than national infrastructure projects. I also care when the spending is far in excess of the guidelines for such spending. I also care when his claims that he bonded the property appear to be a complete fabrication. I also care when it seems cash is being diverted from other infrastructure projects towards building freeways through his hometown of minute value. I also care when it appears that the road project for R1.5bn is corrupt to its core. I also care when I am lied to by the government about these issues. I also care when Public Works appoints dodgy private companies with no history whatsoever to manage my public infrastructure.

The real question here is "why do you not care?" How can you take all of these issues into account and simply write them off as people being nosy? How can you drive passed shacks and then justify government spending R1.75bn on Zuma? How can you continue to be blinded by patriotic support for the sake of it? Why do none of these issues matter to you?

Why anyone will believe a word coming out from either Zuma or Macidiot is beyond me

If not from Govt, care to surmise where? Only a retard would put up that kind of money to build a road to a bunch of tiny rural villages out of love.

Hang on... So on a salary of R2m per year for the last 4 years, he has accumulated enough wealth to service a R200m bond?

He didn't earn this money. He received corrupt donations and gifts - all of which are thefts from the people of south africa.

We ALSO have a right to hold our leaders to the CONSTITUTION of South Africa, and the Rule of Law, to which he regularly gives the finger.
Surely the bank where he holds the claimed bond is in a better position to answer such concerns. Before a bank grants one a bond they require proof of income and expenditure, a list of assets and liabilities to gauge whether one qualifies for a bond. Based on his submission to the bank it should be very easy for SARS to nail him on income tax dodging.

The bond doesn't exist. The presidency is lying, trying to confuse people and cover their tracks.

(I was going to say JB is assuming there IS a bond, when in fact, there is no proof that there is -when there should be...if it were true.)

So JungleBoy, if you owned a company and appointed a senior manager who you know came from a poor family, and you're paying him R200k per year and he builds a R25 million rand home you would not be suspicious?

He states he has a bond on Nkandla, but the law says you cannot bond that which does not belong to you. Does it not even make you wonder just a little ?

Firstly, I've proven with a fair amount of certainty that the official story is either bogus or incredibly stupid on their part. It points to it being bogus considering the level of coincidence required for the story to be true.

Secondly, an audit of books won't necessarily show the exact money-trail. That's not how an audit works - it is not a forensic audit with a particular investigative requirement attached. It might show irregular spend or payments, but will not follow the money trail.

Thirdly, I get the impression that you didn't read the OP or understand it. One of the two. The money is flowing through a US lawyer and a quid pro quo can ensure that money doesn't have to physically change hands - that's how money laundering works these days. A forensic audit might uncover some detail but one would require international subpoenas to find evidence. That is why they move it around like this, as they can use government sway to block subpoenas too.

For the record, if the corruption exists, as it appears to, the money did not flow from a government department to Korong. It was sent via a middle-man who can very easily lie about the use of proceeds to cover the funder. The likelihood of an extradition being granted is slim to say the least.

So your claim that this is pointless is rather short-sighted. One can only do so much until you hit a brick wall and require others to take over. Your accusation of it being pointless is kinda like saying that audits are pointless because they don't actually prove anything necessarily. Or that rape kits are pointless because they don't prove that a particular individual is guilty. You seem to think that investigative research involves logging on to a website where it's all laid out perfectly for you, and copying-pasting into an article.

Personally, I cannot fathom the mind of someone able to look at everything laid out to bare and then claim that those bringing it to the public's attention are the wrong-doers...

1.75 bn spent on Zuma is a bit of a contradiction considering that you have conceded that the road being built benefits more people in mud huts and shacks.

I believe the figure of R200m for security upgrades is exorbitant and clearly there is corruption scandal there. However, the topic of this thread though is about the public road being constructed. So to avoid confusing the two issues we need to address one issue at a time otherwise we are not going to make any sense.

deflect... deflect... deflect the inconvenient truth...

Oh, and check this out - from 2003

http://www.iol.co.za/news/politics/zuma-declares-luxury-kzn-village-1.112873#.UKte9IbO-So

By Andre Koopman and Charles Phahlane

Deputy President Jacob Zuma has for the first time declared his luxury village at Nkandla in KwaZulu-Natal in this year's register of members' interests.

The embattled Zuma has come under fire for allegedly failing to declare his properties, interests and gifts received, including the R1,3-million 12-unit village, and parliament's ethics committee on Wednesday started probing the affair.

MPs are required to declare in the register gifts and benefits that exceed R350.

In the register under land and property, Zuma notes the property as "Land and Dwellings under a permission to occupy" at Nhlola area, Nxamalala Tribal Authority, Nkandla.

In a previous register under the land and property section, Zuma referred queries to the executive register of interests.

The charge sheet against Zuma's financial adviser Schabir Shaik claims that money for the Nkandla development was allegedly channelled from arms company Thales through accounts run by Shaik to another account held by prominent Durban businessman Vathasallum "Vivian" Reddy.

Among gifts received, Zuma notes in the register a "birthday party" sponsored by Erwin Ulbricht, but there is no mention of any gifts or donations from Shaik.

The charge sheet against Shaik states that he and his company allegedly gave gifts or donations or payments to Zuma to the order of R1,2-million.

These include car payments, school fees, clothing bills, travel and rent. The state alleges that Shaik took elaborate steps to hide the origin of most of the payments.

Parliament's ethics committee is investigating whether Zuma did indeed receive gifts and benefits which he did not note in the register.

Committee chairperson Luwellyn Landers refused to comment on Wednesday's meeting of the committee.

In another development, Democratic Alliance chief whip Douglas Gibson on Wednesday lodged a complaint about Zuma with the Public Protector Lawrence Mushwana.

Gibson has asked Mushwana to investigate whether Zuma had contravened the Executive Ethics code by allegedly failing to declare gifts and benefits received from Shaik.

The same Mr Reddy who claims to have lent JZ the money for the upgrade.

Talk about a one track mind.

It all links. It is a pattern of systematic pillage of the nation coffers.

Are you not at all curious as to how a shell company got a government contract to build such a large scale infrastructure project? Or how said shell company claims to have raised R1.5 billion to complete the work without a business plan or repayment strategy?

If it's corrupt, it is wrong. I do not care who benefits from it. And the government agree if Lenasia is anything to go by...

I combined the two to illustrate the depth of corruption in this one issue. I also pointed out in the OP that the department has overspent considerably. I consider the two to go hand-in-hand.

Do me a favour, seeing as you're hellbent on poo-pooing the claims in this thread, why not instead of taking us down a ridiculous path, rather highlight the flaws in the original post so that we can debate them properly. If you cannot rebut them, then why are you going on and on in this thread, sub textually criticising the claims...?
