quick question.

I've got a SAOL.com all in one account that apparently uses SAIX.

I've tried connecting to news.saix.net, but it keeps on timing out.

(news.is.co.za give me a connection refused, which is expected)

i've turned off windows firewall off, and made sure port 119 is open on my router...

any ideas?

Unfortunately SAIX don't allow SAOL users to connect to their news server. Basically, you don't have a local news server.

well that sucks. :( any sugegstions for a local news server?

Surely you can download the nzb with international and when you have local turn it on? Or do you still need access to a local server for that. I've seen guys say you can download any nzb on local by just getting the nzb on international first.

Yes, but the thing is SAOL users don't have access to news.saix.net or news.is.co.za so even if they get the NZB, they can't download the binaries locally.

I'm in the same situation, but now SAOL is offering uncapped 384k for R499 including line rental, might call them up later and switch to it. Only thing I'm worried about is that they will be using Seacom for the international, and I've seen those guys that went onto Screamer who also uses Seacom for international, were having lots of problems!! Thinking maybe I should wait for the Digichilli trial to be over before jumping on, don't want to pay R250 more for an unreliable uncapped service!!!
