No 58XX until after rAge?

nobody will stop me from selling that card before rAge cause they are F!@#$ed up. If they want to do that then they must sell the 5870 for <=R1000!!!!!

not that I'm selling pc parts but this is just what I would have done.

ATI anyway sucks. Although they are good at graphics when it comes to physx Nvidia wins BIG time. That's why they are a bit more expensive

ROFL:D Is today just Fail-comment day for you...?

what about the 5850x2 - will it be faster than the 5870?

I know 2 x 4850's in XFIRE beats a 4870, but 2 x 4870's in XFIRE doesn't beat a 4870x2 (95% of the time)

My 5870 is also caught up in these underhand dealings  The 5850X2 will be faster than the 5870 but your at the whim of the drivers, as for nelis' stance on Physx, have you seen the performance hit when trying to render and run physx simultaneously? :p

I've run lots of heavy PhysX simulations in 3D Studio max and they calculate pretty fast IMO.

please tell me what games have PhysX and i'll test 'em on my PC - afaik I can run basicaly anything on Full Graphics, super smootly (cept crysis, lol - but thats only cause I have 2GB RAM at the moment)

That case may be fast because you're not rendering graphics on the gpu at the same time, though I apologise if I am stupidly wrong there, 3dmax is not an app I use regurlarly. For a game try Mirror's Edge, it runs physx, though the reviews I read were mostly on 8 series cards so the impact on newer cards may be moot :o

yeah mirrors edge and GRAW 2 support physx, but the best game to use it on would Red Faction, dont know if that supports physx though

The 5850 is only around 10% slower on average than the 5870. So 5850 is the best value as it's around R1500 cheaper. Check out this 5850 crossfire review. It pulls almost the same fps as the 5870 crossfire! But both are overkill for current games unless you play at 2500x1600. The 4890 is close most of the time to the 5850 so if you already got a 4890 then it's not really worth upgrading. Rather crossfire with another 4890 :)

I dont think its worth paying that much more for a graphics card with only 10% more power. I'll be getting a 5850 as its cheaper and still extremely powerful

I wonder when the GTX285 prices are going to fall. The minimum price is around R4500 but the HD5850 is faster in every game and way cheaper even at the current price of R3400 which should fall even lower to the recommended price of R2699 in a bit.

Wonder how the weakening of the R vs. most currencies will affect pricing.....

Batman Arkham Asylum, need for speed shift uses physx. Alot of new games will use physx and when you upgrade to new NVIDIA card you can keep your old nvidia and use as physx

Never!!! My mom says that nvidia is the devil and physx is one of it's little demon pals:D
