Well they could have had us and many others walking with a more expensive 60GB. Instead we walk out with the 40GN *sigh* What stupid company doesn't provide an alternative when they discontinue something?!

Sony derserve to lose the game consoles wars with management like this. I've heard it was bad management that lost them the format wars in the 80s with Betamax (consumer) vs VHS ... they're currently losing the SACD vs DVD-Audio though the same reason and guess what? They're in danger of losing Blu Ray vs HD DVD as well ...

Goes to show that a technically superior product (as I hear Betamax, SACD and Blu Ray are ...) doesn't mean acceptance in the market at all.

It was sour grapes. Immersion - the company that owns the patents on Rumble sued them and won wrt the PSOne and PSTwo, so out of spite they refused to include it in the PS3 until they got favourable terms.

In other words Sony Arrogance > Sony customer care.
