It has been a week now that the information bar and TV guide have not been showing. I called the costumer care center yesterday who assured me that the info will be showing within five hours but it still does not sure even today.

The DSTV is practically useless to watch let alone record favourite programmes. What could have possibly went wrong?

Have you tried rebooting the decoder?
Menu -> 1 - > 6
Worked for me a few times.

Sounds like you have an installation problem. What decoder do you have?
1st step is to check all connections at the back of the decoder are secure, could give more details with decoder model

Missing TV Guide on DSTV PVR

I have the same problem. I took the PVR in to Multichoice, and they swopped it for me saying that it may be the decoder. On getting home it's doing the same thing - no DSTV guide showing. Can anyone help?? Could this be an installation problem?? Thanks.

Yes, its all due to installation. The data goes via certain LNB ports on the decoder, so if that cable is loose or faulty then you wont get the data
SDPVR LNB2
HDPVR LNB4
HDPVR 2P LNB2

I have the silver HDPVR decoder.

Then check the connection to LNB 4 at the back, if its not loose then swop that cable with the one connected to LNB3
LNB3 is used for your 2nd recording so check you can still record 2 programs after swopping cables, if you cant then that cable is a problem, you might have a multiswitch which could be faulty. All depends on your type of installation

Thank you guys. One stupid cable was loose. I didn't know it is so hard to tighten those connectors.

THANK YOU.

I have the reverse problem. I use Windows 7 Media Center and the guide data is from MCEGuide. Therefore, I don't need the DSTV guide info. Is there a way to disable the guide info that is displayed for a few seconds when you change channels?

LOL. If you have a silver HDPVR like me then just disconnect the LBN 4 cable.

Not so easy. I have a DSD990 single view. One cable only. Maybe MultiChoice knows of a fix...Nevermind, I used "MulticChoice" and "knows" in the same sentence!!

Same problem here: SD-PVR shows program information for the programs at the bottom of the screen, but the guide just says "No information available" for all shows, all channels...

Tried re-scanning, re-booting, swapping the LNB cables, nada.

Have the DSTV HD Model 4s. Only showing two lines of info (used to show 3), and no longer showing the TV guide.

Rebooted / reset / checked cables - still the same.
Signal strength 69%. Signal quality 93%.

We had this problem recently and was the LNB at fault which was cracked so we got that replaced and now we fine.

Our Signal Quality and Strength were like 30%.
