No e-toll registration website problems says Sanral

Why must we alter our settings?

Happens when they cannot determine or troubleshoot the problem on their side, neither acknowledging that the system is doomed.

Similar to the Telkom and ISP cases, playing musical chairs with the customer...

1. It keeps on going to the login screen. Even after successful login.
2. Try editing the vehicle details (not possible).

If they think the site is working they need to fire the guys monitoring the website.

Loaded this time. Don't know about actually using it though.

I had problems registering - after entering the verification code, it just sent me back to the first step. So I created a new username and that worked.

Then, after I had registered and linked my car to my e-tag, it said that I need to make an initial payment even though I had already bought an e-tag so my account was loaded with R 49.95. Calling the call centre sorted that out.

Their site is obviously very buggy, maybe they should try taking notes from the guys that made the healthcare.gov site?

Isn't it all convenient that all functions for non-registered users are not available (such as this or this - can be argued that Sanral is deliberately forcing people to register in order to access information. Could not find a PAIA link either...

The site threw up a ton of errors (Sanral - what about your C:\Kapsch\ directory and PHP failing all round). Why for once can't they admit that they had issues as any IT system would have when going live - it's expected - what is the point of distributing lies?

“The e-toll website is continuously monitored and tested to ensure it is always functional and available to Sanral’s clients,” the organisation said in a statement.
Say what?

How many YEARS have they had to ensure that everything is working?

For the love of Cthulhu, I hope you have a legitimate reason to be on there (use private car for work etc.)

Sanral advises website users to alter settings if they experience access problems with the e-toll registration website

I logged in myself this morning and the system crashed with an error. Definitely no firewall settings on my side. Oh wait, we are all idiots. My laptop probably re-configured itself to work a couple of hours later.

Again just demonstrates how reliable the ANC/Sanral is.

“Our investigation revealed that people who were struggling this morning were experiencing typical problems experienced on websites that have financial transactions options.”

:wtf:

While I don't really give a crap about SANRAL's blackhole of a website, wtf are they on about "financial transactions options"? Does that mean a payment gateway script is causing problems for some people, and if so does SANRAL really think more people will register if they must pay to register?

Developers of this website should all be fired. Markup is invalid and a ton of security issues all over the place. Will just be a matter of time until something catastrophic happens with Sanral's customer data and billing system (running PHP on a Windows environment with very predictable configuration does not help them either).

^^^

Agreed, I had a cursory look at the site and thought the same thing.
