No exciting Toyotas?

Hi I heard on a car show on TV that Toyota S.A will not be bringing out any more Rsi's or any hot cars, because the singned some document that prevents them. Something to do with global warming or something like that, not to sure.

I dunno about that.

lol, yeah, much better for the environment to bring in/manufacture 4.0L V6 doublecab bakkies ;)

"Thedutchman" have you seen the Lexus LF-A roadster?...you couldn't call that thing fugly if you tried.

400NM is way to much, must be a turbo diesel car. Never a N/A.

yep, 130kw 400nm turbodiesel motor, does 0-100 in 8.1 so imagine it with a chip... should be fun

Are Toyota going to produce something moderatly exciting to drive again?

We.ve had RSI's in RunX, Corolla and both Conquest models for 20 years ... but nothing exciting in the pipeline that anyone maybes knows of?

Toyota as a rule don't seem to produce exciting cars

Well ... 'by exciting', I mean the last 10 years they've had the fastest N/A 1.6 and N/A 1.8. Who could keep up comparing engine size-wise?

Vtec? Gsi corsa was faster than a RSi, Velociti 1.6/1.8 . C230 Kompressor, Opel, Ford Fiesta RSi.

Er. No I mean in real life ...

PS. C230 Kompresser is N/A 1.6 ... ?

*sigh* You really are dumb when it comes to cars :(

I think the very first step is picking up a copy of a magazine and reading the real life tested specs. A great test to read is CAR magazine July 1997 on the Corolla RSI. The 1.6 VVT 5 speed engine produced 110kw which got a tested 0-100km/h in 7.71 seconds. Even the marginally slower (due to gear ratios) 6 speed RXI was marginally over 8 seconds. Both tested and real figures. There's your benchmark.

From there, move to the Run RSI tests (just over 8 sec for the tight engined one, and under 8 sec for the retest).

After this, read the comparitive CAR test RunX vs GTI 132kw vs GSI. Note performance and note the quickest of the 3 cars. Also note the table with history of all GTI, RSI and GSI tests since about 1988. Now you have some figures and you can start comparing.

Now, let's look at the cars you try compare to - one by one ...

I concede the C230 Kompressor is quicker thean N/A 1.6 and 1.8 RSI ... maybe from the 2.5 V6 supercharged engine? Or perhaps the previous 1.8 supercharged? Perhaps google first? With logic like this - are you interested in racing my stepfathers Touareg V10 or 996 TT? Can we fairly compare them?

Fiesta RSI ... 70kw 1600 engine ... hmmm ... the Fiesta RSI is the same as the Fiesta 1.6 with leather etc? Again, google ... Anyway, tested at over 10 seconds to 100km/h. Do you realise how large a gap a car doing 8 seconds and a car doing 10 seconds is? I seriously hope you're kidding with this.

Corsa GSI ... the 1.6 was pretty much the same, if I remember. Just stickers and side skirts extra. The Corsa 1.8 was even slower than the 1.6 - which is pretty dismal. Possibly the new Corsa GSI 1.6 turbocharged would beat it.

VTec, GTI 110kw, GTI 132kw, VR6 are all marginally over 8 seconds - barring the VR6 which was tested by CAR at 7.99. Don't take my word for it - check them up and get back to me. The Life 1.6 was tested at about 9.5 seconds. Add to the fact that I race my brothers continually and have acceleration figures - I realy cannot understand why you keep saying this. He then modded (mods listed in another thread) and guess what, I still beat him to 100km/h. Graphs (again) where posted.

I'm given you rock solid proof with links, tests, facts and graphs. Where is your proof of anything you say? Your statements are as wild as me claiming to beat cars 1-2 seconds quicker than me ...

There was a time when I used Car magazine figures to compare cars. Then I realised all cars are different, I never stretched the truth, all my claims a legit IMO, and the drivers who I know can confirm it.

Ive never raced at the coast, so all I know is cars on the highveld.
