7. How does XtraView work?
Basically, two decoders* are linked to work under a single subscription. Each decoder is independently connected to
the satellite dish and each decoder has a smartcard. In the XtraView installation, one decoder is designated as the
"primary" decoder and the other one is designated as the "secondary". The decoders are linked by a cable that allows
communication between them and the primary decoder sends a "heartbeat" to the secondary decoder via this cable. If the
cable is removed or the "heartbeat" lost, the secondary decoder will lose video & audio until the cable is replaced or
the "heartbeat" resumed. There is no impact to the primary decoder if the cable is disconnected. (* See available
XtraView combos)

Read there for more info - that might have a solution - otherwise wiggle cables.

I had a similar issue once, turned out that during some sort of upgrade the PVR did "behind the scenes" it changed the setting from the RF out to the RF in and just needed to be switched again in the settings.

I spent 45 minutes on the phone to them like a week ago, running between TV's like a mad man on speed... With no success. they useless those call centers :( Guess i'll have to take the decoders in and see if the maybe faulty of something like that.

that is the worst, then they send you to the one only to tell you to go back to the other without doing anything

jeez when i opened this thread, i wasn't expecting this.. good news i guess

Mine lost the heartbeat last night around 6pm. Also tried the usual RF in RF out fix, didn't work. Went through the entire process a couple of times, rebooting both decoders, re entering the correct settings, ensuring each time that tv link is enabled and eventually it took.

HDPVR also gets stuck sometimes(picture only), and sometimes the sound(jitters) but picture is fine. Fixes itself... The HDPVR sux period

I hate it so much! spend more money getting it fixed than i do every month paying for the service. Not to mention when it rains! Aaaaargh! (face palm while watching live sport and it loses signal because a cloud decided to float by)

That sounds like a poor installation. Proper install should not have issues unless it's really bad weather.
