No LAN in Starcraft 2!!!

I used to play dota online all the time and eventhough it was great, it just isn't the same thing as lanning with friends. It's not just about playing games at a lan. There is also the social interaction.

no man this makes perfectly sense, just remember how this helped hellgate- i mean why let this implementation stop by flagship

if they just release an easy to setup battle.net proggie, problems solved. We must remember, SA doesnt feature very high on blizzards "to cater for" list.

This doesnt pose too much of a problem for me though:)

BLIZZARD STILL ROCKS!!! cant wait for the game, bwuhahaha!

That is a bit of a disappointment:( as long as they don't do the same with Diablo 3 then am going to be sick:sick:

FFS so now me and my brothers are screwed can't play lan are you fing me.

Christ, I hope Activision dies a miserable miserable death. Diluting such an awesome studio. First D3 has no lan, then SC II will have 3 "episodes" and no lan. All because of money. Looks like WOW ain't making nuff money for the greedy c***s.

RIP Blizzard. Let's all sing an ode to the days games were awesome and not in "bite-sized money burning snips".

Well to the rest of the world its true...
Well we don't live in the rest of the world now do we Oculate?
Its mostly the pirates complaining I would imagine.
It seems imagining isn't your strong point...now is it? Please explain how you came to that "conclusion" exactly?
Troll.

Read my previous posts on why I would have liked LAN to be included and why I'm disappointed that it's not.

+1.

"IncGamers also got a clarification from Blizzard, shortly after the interview, saying the choice of excluding a LAN feature "is because of the planned technology to be incorporated into Battle.net," a topic they will reveal more about at a later date."

So what about this? It's most likely just a LAN feature in Bnet that makes it easier to incorporate into every game.

Zenbaas,

Why are you so touchy?

Listen, it's not Blizzard or anyone elses fault SA has ****ty internet. It's not Blizzards fault that their biggest clients in the world has world class Internet.

LAN is so 90's learn too except change or else life will be a very long road for you ;)

Seriously guys, you're whinning about crap :p

Because it p!sses me off Pitbull. LAN so 90's? Errr ok. And I don't have to accept change...I have no issue with change. I just want the feature to be included.....comprende? We don't all have enough money to spend loads on additional bandwidth for gaming. At least not in the near foreseeable future.

And your whining about us whining is crap;)

Hmm. Maybe they'll package a "LAN feature" with the third episode and use that as a massive selling point.

I'm not trolling, I used to LAN a lot, even at the bigger ones I atteneded legal copies of games were few and far between. In fact one of the reasons I stopped lanning was because they were turning into software/music/movie pillagefests rather than gaming. You entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to mine.

In any case, I'm sure there'll be an server emulator out as soon as this game is released for both the legit and pirate players to enjoy.

Methinks I am missing the point here.
Exactly how wonderful is Starcraft II going to be at 450ms lag?

Or, is the battle.net configuration just there to hook players up together before handing over to the clients to chat to each other directly?

Is Starcraft II going to have problems when the communication of Player A suddenly comes from his local-only IP Address instead of the ip address of his international connection?

Methinks a spoofed Battle.Net server may be required to get this damn thing to run.

Something that would have been entirely avoidable if we had just been allowed to LAN.

me thinks this is a move to curb piracy.

yep....definitely!

That doesnt make any sense. Most piracy takes place via downloading stuff from torrents over the web, or buying bogus rips from seedy fleamarkets, not at lan parties. In fact my experience at LAN's especially with Blizzard products was that fans of the games ALWAYS tended to own the originals.

This move to exclude LAN makes no sense, other than they can't see a need or market for LAN play anymore. Which is absurd, since Starcraft1 shot to fame and popularity largely because of it's tournament LAN playability, and the almost cult-like status that skilled tourney-LAN players garnered and the resulting status they brought to the product. Not including LAN in the sequel is a slap in the face, a rank insult to us lanners who MADE Starcraft such a popular and evergreen game.
