No Man's Sky

Completely understand! I have also spent far too long on planets looking for that last rare, underground animal  If it's a rare, underwater one, I usually can't be bothered.

Since freighters I just scan the system and skip planets with underground. Ain't nobody got time for that lol

Does anybody else get the behaviour where, while in their corvette, the compass never shows North anymore. Just W, S, E.

There's supposedly a ground species that is "Found in the North" as is often the case, and I can't orient my ship to North...

Just brilliant.
I would head south, but 180 degrees of that :-P I lose my compass often anyway.

I think I prefer finding caves to explore than the deep ocean stuff. I haven't ever done that scan from the freighter, vaguely knew it existed but haven't really tried it. Will have to add it to my main save freighter.

Like I said, it's seriously lacking in comparison:

Yeah, it's also cause it's a C class and you've got limited upgrades. Remember I've been collecting things for yonks and yonks. Maybe some day pop into a game and I can share stuff, think I can share money? Maybe see if I've got some upgrades laying around.

Thanx

Money is easy to get, just trade in scans. The only thing I seriously lack is that dam upgrade currency (tech parts or some such), but I suspect I'll get them over time.

First room in my freighter from the bridge. I put it there. Way too useful for exploration stuff, to have it anywhere else.

@AlphaJohn you also need to rearrange your tech to get the best of it's abilities, like having shield stuff near the main shield, landing gear near the launch thrusters, your cockpit near your pulse drive, generally you place your upgrades around the primary tech strongest to weakest, with the enhancements you buy on the fringes.

My top tip is lucky packets!!. Take money, go to pirate station, buy the suspicious packets. Open and sell for nanites to the upgrades dealer nearby. The most difficult thing is trying not to be tempted to use the upgrades instead of selling

If you can't easily identify a pirate system, install the economy scanner and the pirate systems have a circular blob instead of being 1/2/3 stars.

I have noooo idea what I was doing, just moved them around till they got colors rings, except for the Aquatic landing that don't wanna ring, doesn't matter where I placed it :D

The aquatic landing should pair with the launch thrusters (top left).
Edit: It might not improve the stats as it's not quite the same as other upgrades.

Yeah that's what I meant with my edit hehe. If you buy an actual launch thruster upgrade then it should light up when next to the launch thrusters. Not sure how useful they are for corvettes unless you land it often. I tended to just teleport down from mine so didn't waste time (and tech slots) improving the launch thrusters.

Aquatic doesn't light up, on ships or corvettes.

Erm how you do that... I wanna star trek teleporter

Da game is too big :D so much to still learn/do.

You can finesse the value you get a bit by playing around with how the upgrades are arranged btw. Checking the result against the stats display on the right (meagre as they may be) as you go. There are rules for how the orientation of upgrades to the main part affect the boost you get from them, apparently, but I just go by feel.

Just know that once they light up, that's usually not the maximum boost you can get yet. The difference can be quite extreme. Switch two around, hey presto, 10% better. Sometimes its better to have the main part on a super slot, and sometimes it's better to have one of the upgrades there rather.

100% this!! I've found that the infra-knife accelerator seems to get better stats when the main part is on a super/purple slot.

I think there's one like that for the pulse spitter as well.
I think so, would need to double check. There is a scanner that doesn't help either.
Plus when you have the Emeril drive or the Iridum (can never remember which) you can remove the old ones, you don't need them after that.
Same as once you've learnt a lot of the languages you can remove the translator modules.
