No Netflix rand support planned

Who can blame them. Would you want to be paid in Rands at this point in time?

I wonder if this has anything to do with SA's asinine forex regs?

most nexflix subscribers in SA would be better of sticking with the US library and circumventing via unotelly.

Local accounts might make paying easier for some but yeah, I'd still pony up for Unotelly.

How about signing up for Netflix in their Canadian territory and paying the $8/$10 or whatever sub in Canadian Dollars. You would save some money this way, no?

Even Canadians are using VPNs to access US content. Apparently they are missing quite a few titles.

The point is to get the cheapest sub against the exchange rate. I'm sitting here thinking maybe trying other countries that are weaker against the Rand than the US$. You can still log into Netflix with your India account and because Netflix detects your IP being from South Africa, you get access to Netflix South Africa. Using tools like Hola/UnblockUS/Unotelly will further enable the same account to access Netflix from other regions.

I want to actually try this but since I am on a promo Netflix package (US$8 for HD on 2 screens) it is not a viable to me at the moment to cancel and sign up at a stronger exchange rate elsewhere.

Just weird. However they're probably investigating their options.

This brings up an interesting question. Is there any difference between having a US and South African account? Does Netflix even differentiate?

There is diffirence in content. My US account, without Geo location circumvention, loads the SA version/content of Netflix now when logging in.

Good idea - but do Cananda pay in Canadian $ or also US$?
How many countries have the same as us ie paying in US$ and not local?
Wonder if you could get that somewhere?

Argentina Peso is pretty bad

If they don't support local currency, it likely means they won't release gift cards locally either, which will cut-off some of the local market. Not everyone has, or wants, to use their credit card online (or wants an auto-renewing sub). Will be interesting to see if they stick with it.

Argentina pricing is in US$. India is in Rupees (500) and Thailand in Bhai (280). Both convert to about R125 for the SD single screen option.

The CAN$ option is still the most attractive: R97 and R114 for the 8 and 10 Canadian Dollar options.

Don't blame them. The currency has gone to the dogs. Oh, wait... sorry is that racist?
