NO RESPONSE FROM MWEB

Schickelgruber, we all get your point. What would be nice is a "date of commencement" for the service. Just a little "when would you like the service to start?" so that we can actually register before our other internet account gets cut off. Sure, it's our fault for registering soon before we should have, but what other choice is there? Sacrificing convenience and going through to an internet cafe to register at midnight, since we have no cap to do it on the 1st of May?

Well then I would call that unlucky on your part man. But honestly, lets be practical about the situation... how many companies will actually REFUND for a service someone has used? Not much I can tell you that. That is my point, so I guess we all learn from these mistakes and move on now.

I think first things first.. we need to check is neliobaas complaining about being charged for half the month plus this month.. or is he complaining about being double billed for may and june..

because if its the latter then he must learn to read... its all over the place that mweb do this.

Not anymore actually, their pro rata definition has change to mean, "You will get billed for the number of days remaining in the month, plus the following month." Lemme go check the T&C's again though... and the dude complaining initialed every page of the Terms so really there is no excuse.

EDIT: Weirdly this doesn't appear on the t's&c's (okay well it does, but not as clearly as the thread indicates the status quo), but http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ng-Good-News!&highlight=MWEB+Billing+Pro+rata is the post to back up and bitch if need be.

Also, neliobaas please post the total amount you we're (or are still to be billed) plus the date you activated (or called in to set-up) your account.

neliobaas has now learnt that he is wrong and should have read more carefully through the T&C, neliobaas is just upset that when he called mweb to enquire about this that they did not tell him this, and would rather tell me they will sort this out and leave me hanging, and then when neliobaas emails them and asks what is going on they choose to ignore him rather than telling him that this is not their fault but neliobaas'es fault.................

Post on the Facebook group, you're more likely to get attention there than here.

MWEB don't give MyBB nearly as much attention as they should.

listen, i called them a few times, they could have told me, "here is the scenario, read the T&C"..., but they rather tell me they will sort it out, and never come back to me, even after i email them

So you always sign a contract BEFORE reading it? Gosh I need to set up debit orders for people like you. :)

naaah, its cool, i am at fault here, but like i said, if they informed me the 1st time i called them i would have understood not complain about it, but ja, everything is cool now

Sure, just remember that you are charged a month in advance for your ADSL. So if you had signed up on the 29th, you were bound by the old terms which said that if you signed up after the 15th, you are to pay half subs, plus the portion for the following month. So, thats R109.50+R219=R328.50. You should not have paid for the entire month of April, only half and even then if the rep told you he would only activate it on the 1st then that constitutes an amendment of the standard terms and MWEB should be called up on it.

New Terms http://www.mweb.co.za/legalpolicies/tabid/1918/Default.aspx
Old Terms http://www.mweb.co.za/legalpolicies/ProductsServices/ADSLTerms2010/tabid/1925/Default.aspx

you see, but this is what i am complaining about, what they did was R219 + R219 + R109.50, so they did remove the R109.50, bu it stil reads R438

Okay, now have a look at your account page and the invoice that was attached. You applied after the debit order cycle had already run, and thus paid for the "current month" of April and for June in advance (I think). Look at the invoice and see what the billing period was...

Neliobaas, I also got quite a shock when I first signed up and they charged me over R1000 for my billing. I gave them a call and after a short bit of confusion I understood that it was billing a month in advance. It's not a billing model which is common amongst ISPs so a person can easily be confused. The R438 is thus completely above board and will only be billed a month later, so its no money out of your pocket at the moment.

The thing that does confuse me is the people signing up a few minutes before month end. Mweb does not automatically activate accounts, you first have to go through the RICA process so if you sign up at 23:30 (lets say you sign up via their online form) that means there is absolutely no one to fully activate your account in any case till the next day?! Not to mention at the moment you're only billed pro-rata.

^: This. Mweb always charges two months in advance with a debit order signup. Check when your account expires.

@ Vonni
jaaaa, i understand how it works now, it is confusing, i agree, i have been with afrihost, axxess, screamer and only mweb does the billing like this, i would have preferred if they deducted the month of may at the beginning of may, its a bitter pill to swallow to fork out an extra R219 that you did not budget for

It shouldn't be a extra R219, you must have saved it over from beginning of May... ;)

Ha ha, unfortunately I spent the R550 +/- during that month :D ... at least it's only 1 month
