No Service issue

this is abit BS no offense, but my 3G is turned off 24/7 and i keep getting "no service" it was working again yesterday untill this morning, again "no service" today and my 3G is turned off all the time.

no offence taken , most likely that you have a hardware problem

Hardware problem you say? But like a thousand others got the same problem, so i take it we all need to go for a replacement?

Well, the rest of us can seemingly fix the problem by simply rebooting the phone. In your case that doesn't work, which suggests that it might be more than a software bug. Also, since I turned off 3G yesterday I have had no issues and in fact have 4-5 bars at all time.

If i restart mine aswell some times it will work but some not.

Does anyone know why if is switch of my phone and turn it back on it does not ask my sim pin? Sometime it does some it does not.

Hmmm... There is a configuration in settings where you can turn off the 4-digit pin, but then it should be consistent.

I know if you do a proper shut down (hold power key then slide off) then it should ask for the PIN when turning on.
If you do a reset by holding power and home key till it reboots, then it won't ask for a PIN...

I went to Vodacom 3G again today, the guys there played around with the phone probally rebooted it 20times sometimes it gets a signal sometimes not or it looses the signal, so the guy gave me a new sim to test with, if this still does not work he told me to bring the phone in for repairs.

A Vodacom Rep just phone me to flog me a Iphone 4...
First thing....he was offering the 16G @ R304.00 with 100meg data p/m
They claim to have had no actual complaints..about the " no service" issue... what alot of crock... "Its only in the 'farm area's..."
Bolloks to vodaclots...although the price is worth investigating...

Update from my side.

As I indicated earlier, I turned off 3G completely to see if this would eradicate the problem.

From Monday until today everything was fine. However today I experienced the "No signal" issue twice. The first time I was in an elevator and after I got out it immediately found signal. The second time I was at home using Skype on the iPhone. After I ended the call I saw the "No signal" issue. Waited, saw it going into "searching" and then saying "No signal" again. This time I did not have to restart - it was sufficient to toggle airplane mode On and Off

Yeah buddy - your situation is way worse.

But it still annoying for me, because I feel like I constantly have to check the phone to make sure it has service, or otherwise I won't be able to receive calls

yea true, well i hope when i get my phone back, it wont have the problem anymore.

Really weird - second time this week I got the "No Service" message after an extended Skype call over WiFi

I hope once i get mine back from repairs it will not have this problem, or get it again.
