Hi guys I logged a complaint on hellopeter and a 8ta manager contacted me and sent out a techie twice. I am based in Randburg and guess what NO SERVICE is all I get whether I insert the sim into a phone or Usb dongle. It works fine at my office in Woodmead. After calling them several times and receiving reference numbers no one ever called me back. Today I went out and purchased the poynting LPDA high Gain Antenna and the new Huawei B683 router at almost R3500 I have installed everything and hoped for the best. I have signal and my Router is connected but I am getting Edge and 3g 384kb :(. I have tested with Vodacom and did a speedtest, guess what I get almost 7mbs on Downstream. Your reference number is 696405 was the last ref number I received from 8Ta social media . Hope this gets sorted asap because I purchased the 60Gb + 60GB Promo.

Regards

Hi Solidsnake!

We have just escalated your matter to our engineers. The reference was handed over to them yesterday after the previous test results were analyzed.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Regards,
Social Media Team

NO USEFUL SERVICE IN STELLENBOSCH???? Why sell it and congest it more???

Apologies for X-posting - but this thread seems much more active and perhaps appropriate to an 8Ta response that will mean something.

Internet 5 Promo - 10 GB/m- Joined mid Dec 2011- and so far absolutely terrible.
Not even worth trying to use during daytime some days it is so slow and keeps dropping!

•In which area/s you use your connection?
Stellenbosch - Krigeville across from Paul Roos and Rhenish/BloemHof Girls High Schools
•What can 8TA do to make you a happier customer?
1) Either make it useable in next month or agree to cancel the subscription at no further cost and refund my SIM deposit
OR
2) Hook me up to your partnered MTN service in the interim until 2nd site in Stellenbosch.
and
3) Restrict the number of users so you maintin the service at levels it is useful.

USING TP-LINK MR3420

SPEEDS:
Commonly < 0.35 Mbps download and < 0.05 to 0.1 Mbps uploads during weekdays - a bit better at night.
Stopped the Midnight add on as it was also really slow.....and seems totally conjested.
Torrents rarely download at more than 0.070 Mbps - which is 1/6 the speed of Vodacom 3G service in the area.

Called early January and within a week they sent special Tech rep to the house - and he confirmed the signal in the entire Krigeville area is not as shown on map - [thedark bright pink] and that the service was far below the standard of elsewhere in the Cape Town area. He said that they likely would be doing someing in the next month as this was becoming a heavy complaint area now.

Many of our calls and complaints in February did nothing to get other than - "will look into this" from someone new to the case - and finally on 2 March 2012 Tech reply was:
"Good day - The reason fo slow internet speeds is because you have one site in your area, there is a planned site improve the slow internet speeds issue, Please see below comments from engineers and do reply if you need more clarity - Phillip Ramalata WCD:ANA

Message with Hand To:
There is only one site in the whole area ; this is why the customer is experiencing slow throuput due to high traffic on the only serving site (WR_Stellenbosh_Exch,among the congested cells). However as the new site WR_Valerida_Centre comes on air, the traffic will be releave from WR_Stellenbosch_Exch and improvment will be noticed.
Kindly liaise with 8ta Planning for more information about the planned site WR_Valerida_Centre.-Customer's Location 33.942573 18.859149
Kind Regards , Freedom Ndebele - Technical Support Consultant: Team SOC *[email protected]

This was on Friday 2 March.
Called and asked what next - they said wiat 72 hours til Monday 5th and call back.
Did that 5th March and spoke 1st time to supervisor who said they would look into it.
Sent now 5 more emails and called and have talked to 8ta [183] supervisors now three times.

THIS AM - MONDAY 19th - supervisor said he has not heard anything about his multiple enquiries... He said he would try again and if not - then we could cancel the service as it clearly is not adequate or working propoerly.

I asked to make this one last try to get info as Valeridas is only 300m from our house - and if not - then pls send me an email stating I could cancel with no penalty and get a refund for the SIM etc as it really since we started in Decemnber that has not worked.

NO DOUBT CONCLUSION: If you live in STB - forget the high vol or even the 2+1 GB promotions which we also tried w 8ta unless you live next to their single data antenna and want to share in that antenna's congestion..

8ta - ANY NEWS ?
We'd like to get this resolved.

Thanks
K2

It is always wise to try smaller bundles before signing contract. 8ta work on new towers, so wait, or invest in external antenna. If you are heavy donwloader, you always benefit from.
