No verification codes

Hi there,

I recently ported from Telkom to Vodacom and have noted that OTPs/verification codes from international sources such as whatsapp, Google, xiaomi account etc are not being received. Not sure whether there is a rep or whether @Ockie could assist me? I'm not sure what the issue is but I'm worried that these messages are perhaps being redirected? Hacked? Or maybe it's just a simple setting or porting issue that needs to be resolved to restore functionality. Hope there is nothing sinister afoot and that it's an easy fix appreciate any advice people may have to sort this out so I can log back into my accounts.

Thank you. I just got hold of an amazing and patient Vodacom consultant who went through troubleshooting with me for over 30 minutes, and they were finally able to fix it. Was a bit of a struggle as they were referring me back to WhatsApp support which is non-existent but thankfully, they persisted with me, and now I am back in WhatsApp and getting OTPs again. Seemed to be an issue with short codes, specifically from international sources.

Hi there! I'm well thanks. I hope that you are too. Which network are you with? I ended up porting from Telkom as they could not help me. I ported to vodacom and then spoke to a Voda-consultant telephonically and they managed to by some miracle help me get a whatsapp login code.

I have a vodacom pre paid account, but it keeps says couldnt make call or sms to the number to receive my OTP to start whatsapp

Yes I had the same thing (on telkom and on voda). I had to call voda and they helped me. The agent and I didn't figure out what actually worked but after trying a whole host of different things, I was able to get the code. They checked routing, roaming etc on their side. They turned roaming off and on. They reset settings on their side. I was on a 24 hour whatsapp wait by this point so was petrified to press the resend code button but the consultant said they checked every possible thing and asked me to press it and the sms came through. So we weren't sure what was the actual setting/problem because I had initially been told by telkom and vodacom that everything was fine on their side but the person at vodacom just went through every possible thing and reset/turned off and on from their side and something must have worked because while I was on the call with them using speaker, the sms came through from WhatsApp immediately as I clicked resend code.
