Hi there all, I'm hoping someone might have experienced this issue and found a solution, my missus recently bought a new Redmi phone, she went from the Redmi not 9 to Redmi note 12
We moved everything across via Google backup and everything was hunky dory.
On the 30th December xiaomi released their latest update for her phone hyperOS and she updated her phone.
One of the issues that then appeared was that she wasn't getting notifications for new emails on outlook and sometimes WhatsApp and new emails. So she tried disabling the various miui battery savers so that the messages would come through and that still didn't work. She then read that apparently the best option would then be to reset the phone and start again basically as it might have had faults or issues during the upgrade process which we did. We again reinstalled everything but when it came to logging back into WhatsApp the problem arose. WhatsApp doesn't want to send the verification sms, or the phone is not receiving the verification sms. We have tried moving the sim to a different phone without any success. The network she is with when this problem started is telkom, we have contacted them and they say everything is fine on their side. But yet still no verification sms. We are at the point that we have tried to have the sms sent so many times that the wait between smses has been growing, she has to currently wait 20h for the next sms verification sms. We have tried requesting the callback option and it just says it has failed. So we are out of options. We have even tried contacting WhatsApp support via email and this is a completely useless option as they respond with generic emails only. Just to note she is trying a last resort currently to port across to vodacom and try again. If anyone could help that would be really great

Can you send a SMS to her and see if it comes through?

Also make sure the number is in the correct number format in whatsapp, +2784XXX not +27084

Yes she can send and receive normal smses no problem, it seems to be anything powered by meta, so Facebook, instagram, WhatsApp,
Her banking apps work perfectly with smses coming through for every transaction

Just a quick update, this issue has been resolved, I think it might have been a telkom problem because after porting to vodacom everything seemed to have come right, unfortunately telkom don't seem to know what they are doing, vodacom alot more helpful.

Used my phone and Contacted them via WhatsApp, and requested an agent to call me, they called about 2 mins later and talked my missus through all the different settings she needed to do to check for problems.

A bot thingy first answers your questions but if he doesn't help just simply request an agent to call you back.
