Anyways, I got my Spire Eclipse II at a darn good price, next is a Prolimatech Megahalem brand new and at R450 damn good bang for buck ^_^

Op has defiantly made the best choice for a cool, just still needs some luck finding a place to buy it thats not online :/

Omg, durp, that's single fan guy.. In the same review you quote they show it coming second when using the same fan (1x) across all the heatsinks. Nice confirmation bias there buddy.. :rolleyes:

..still, as I said the NH-D14 has increased surface area so it may even hold up better at extreme overclocks.

NH-D14 with 3x Thermalright TY-14's (tested best 14cm fan) = Win! (so agreed on the NH-D14 being a great purchase!, ..but wait what was that about your Spire being top dog a few posts ago..dawg?)

Stock fans? 1230rpm (NH-D14) vs 2350rpm (Spire) for a 1deg. win. You know how much louder that is!?

Are you retarded? Can you move your eyes a few centimeters downwards for the results using the same fans?

At those clocks the SA and Archon outperform the NH-D14 slightly, it's only at a couple more hundred MHz that the NH-D14 pulls ahead because of the increased surface area.

Sorry to the OP for the derail, but least you got to know that the Noctua is better then the Thermaltake heatsinks ^_^

The Archon is the tallest at 170mm, but should fit ok the 690-II. There's a further issue though, if you want to use an "east-west" orientation, then check if your 1st PCI-e slot is located very close (less than 1cm) from the lowest IO port of your motherboard. If so, the Archon interferes with gfx cards in that PCI-e slot. If there's a gap between the IO port and the PCI-slot, then the Archon is fine

I also read somewhere that it might also interfere with some RAM slots.

Where was I proven wrong? (Apples to apples=2x fans!) The Archon slightly edges out the SA, and the the only situation the NH-D14 has the edge over both is at the extreme 1.465v, 4.4/4.5GHz range (where most wouldn't run it 24/7 anyway) where the increased surface area helps keep the pc priming (which I stated on the first page already)
However with 3x TY-140's I'd expect it to have the edge over both in all situations, but that's not apples to apples.
Sad am I, k cool, at least I have the facts on my side.

Note: They have yet to test the Archon vs the NH-D14 at that extreme level of voltage/heat. (have a feeling the same thing will happen, but I'll wait for the results)

More reviews seem to have shown it to be beaten by the Noctua and Silver Arrow then showing it to be better.
Heres another nice review from Real World Labs

Although I do prefer the synthetic results of Frostytech for the main reason that there can be no variation, different motherboards, volts, cases all can lead to variations in the results that come from test. Having a controlled test where all heatsinks are tested in the same fashion I would think gives far more reliable data. "Real World" test applications do show us very well how results can vary from place to place, motherboard to motherboard and give a good indication as to how that specific cooler would preform on a 920 or 980x.

Apples to apples I go for the one with less bruises.....Heatsinks I would prefer spending R600 on a heatsink that comes with everything I need so that I can slap into my rig straight away and get the best results, not having to spend an extra R200-400 odd to get extra fans. And frankly if I had to spend the money I would rather get Yate Loon 140mm fans with double the CFM of those TY-140's
Out of box value says alot least it does in my mind and with alot of good review always a plus.

So.... :)
