Ok this phone that I couldn't wait for, well where do I start with it?

1) If someone phones me, sometimes the speakers doesn't work so I can't hear them.

2) If I put someone onto speaker phone then they can't hear me.

3) The phone crashes while on a phone call, crashes if someone phones and I am using the GPS.

4) The battery time is terrible and ridiculous.

5) The alarm clock is ALWAYS 4 minutes late I mean WTF?

Haha. Whenever you snooze and then cancel the alarm, it carries over the remaining snooze time. For example, and assuming your snooze time is 10 minutes, if you push snooze and then cancel the alarm after 4 minutes, there is a remaining 6 minutes left till it was set to go off again. so the next morning, when the alarm is meant to go off, the snooze counter kicks in and has to count down those 6 minutes, therefore the alarm is 6 minutes late. If you cancelled after 6 minutes, the next morning it's 4 minutes late, etc. This keeps going repeating until you cancel the alarm without snoozing.

1 - 3: Never had any of these problems with mine.

4: It's a Nokia smartphone, you can't really help that. I've been accustomed to charging my phone every evening since the Nokia 6600 (although it's every second night with the 5800).

5: It's sometimes more than that, like, it looses a few seconds every hour or so (not exactly sure), but using an application called "Freetimebox" which you can use to sync your clock to an NTP server, which you can run like every second day or so. This vacation I'm not using any alarms and it still loses time, so I'm not sure the alarms do that.

Ok I had a messy time with my 5800, but whoa !! You, my friend, are experiencing a cucumber up the @$$ !
:D

Not normal. At all. Take it back and hand Nokia or your SP their cucumber back !!

There were some of these phones released with a defective speaker. Take it in for a replacement, that ought to end your problems.
Just got the same phone myself, only problem is the fact that it doesn't work well with my Netgear ADSL router but maybe I can figure it out with some advice from the Nokia forums...

have you done software update lino?

I must say i have experienced the speaker thing, where i can not hear a single word but i am apparently in a call...

I took the phone back to Dion Wired today, who at first were not prepared to swop the phone but rather wanted it sent in for repairs.

After 45 minutes and speaking to the manager, they eventually swapped the phone, as I argued I have only had the phone for 6 days.

*New phone currently on charge*

Good to here, is the firmware up to date?

The fact that the firmware isn't up to date makes me think your phone is older stock, or maybe that's just how it is for the ones in SA. My 5800XM that I bought in New Zealand about a week ago came with the latest firmware (v3...). Still needed to update the maps and some other bits though.
By the way make sure to also run the "Application Update" (in the Applications folder) on your phone to get some minor updates and a few new apps.

Do you get the Comes With Music in SA? NZ doesn't have it :(
That's what I get for not being patient I guess.

It has been 1 week since I swapped phones and this one works fantastically. Only crashed once! Other than that I have no problems at all.

@Maddmatt both of them came with free Music!

Do you void the warranty if you update the firmware? Do you void the warranty if you change the product code?
