Nokia 5800 or N97?

The N97 is a 5800 with new clothes, a keyboard and 32GB memory.

If you not going to use 32GB and a keyboard is not a necessity. Get the 5800.
Its cheaper.

Its not a Citi golf compared to a BMW. Its more like a 320 compared to a 325i...

If you have the money, go for the N97 if your budget is tight go for the 5800.

good advice +1
Does anyone have Garmin GPS installed? Does it have voice guided turn by turn navigation and how does it work with the touch screen?

Garmin on the 5800 is fantastic, touch screen fully utilized.

This ia a bit off the topic, but guys are talking about the stylus here. I just want to know, do you really need to use the stylus on either of the phones. I hate handwriting recognition and that's where you need a stylus. Is the interface "finger-friendly" enough to not use the stylus at all?

I only really use stylus for internet & mxit.

Everything else I don't bother.

N97 is a way better phone than the 5800, anyone who says otherwise is making excuses for having a 5800. N97 is also not a business phone, people needing a business phone get an htc touch pro2. n97 is an all round above!! average performer, but maybe not excelling in anyone particular part.
32gb
5mp camera
gps (1 free year navigation)
Touch screen + Keyboard
3.5" display
Tons of software for Symbian s60 5th and more coming out everyday
3.6mbs hsdpa
Handset feels solidly built too.

Although I really like the N97, I still feel the pay-in (or extra R150 per month) could go towards something better. The 5800XM is much better than my 2 year old N73 so I'll take it, even if it has the same camera.

My wifes upgrade is in June next year so i'll buy her a new phone over the festive season & get the N97 on her upgrade next year I'm not satisfied with the 5800.
