NOKIA 5800 Tips Tricks & Apps Thread.....

Quick question, the one thing that I noticed with the phone is the lack of an office document viewer. Sorted that out by downloading quick office 4 from their site, but now there is no PDF viewer. I use my phones for business and receive a lot of emails with PDF attachments. Anyone know of anything that can help? Looked at Adobe 2.5LE, but not willing to pay R120.00 for it if there is something free out there.

Don't suppose I can complain though, its not meant to be a "business" phone, but wow, I really like it and would like to use it all the time and do away with my E66, so any fingers in the right direction would help, thank you.

Out the box, installed garmin, fring & mxit.

A friend of mine had they same problem, also after taking a video:erm:

Only really starting to use the phone now, gave the gf the N82. Really enjoying it so far, awesome multimedia device and web browsing.

ok...my pc is not seeing my nokia anymore and this means i cant use PC suite and this means i cant update! :(
 
Is anyone else having a problem with the auto-rotate? Mine hardly works. Even if I switch the phone off, 4 out of 5 times the auto-rotate doesn't work. In the one time it does, after a while the keyboard gets stuck on the full qwerty which forces me to switch off again.

i find it sometimes gets stuck are you sure you are holding it horizontally?

and with the nokia wording pointing up (your call buttons on the right?

Just give it a slight shake.

Another thing you can give a try is try playing the game RT GR then you use your left right movement to steer the car

Yip definitely holding it properly. I'm going to take it in to vc when i get a chance. Started on the 8th day after i bought it:(

I'm busy looking at one, SmartView i think its called, will load it now and let you know how it handles AVI
 
I was happy with my phone until I randomly started losing music which I noticed when looking at my library and when playing a song, after which it would say yadda yadda corrupt, etc. I then started losing contacts at random intervals.
I don't know what caused this but I reformatted the memory card and it seems to be fine now, although the phone detects programs as already installed (those which were installed on the memory card before the format).

I'm also interested in getting one, did you get it from a Vodacom retail outlet or can you pretty much get it from any cellphone shop?
 
Hi 5800 owners.My opera browser is a fickle bugger too.I have the latest firmware,latest opera mini with java runtime 2 installed.Im on a MTN top up 100 and do not want a monthly bundle subscription due to it not being prepaid.My question,would the default browser without images cost me more then opera winfrey er mini?My gut tells me yes and would like a second opinion.ps:Body glove for 5800 is like giving your girl a breast enlargement.I love it.

The need for a shield has been bugging me, since my previous 3600 got so scratched so quickly. I bought a screen shield from a Vodashop in Cresta for R30 and I just don't like it. I don't want to put a case on because that adds to the bulk. The Zagg shields are nice but expensive http://www.invisibleprotectors.co.za/. So I've ordered ten full body shields from overseas - same tough material as the Zagg and less than half the price. They should be arriving next week and I'll first try one out, but if anyone's interested they can PM me. I expect it will be about R120 with postage.
