NOKIA 5800 Tips Tricks & Apps Thread.....

I got opera mobile 10 when it was released, after 10 minutes of use i reverted back to mini 5 beta. Darn thing uses 30MB of RAM !!!

So i installed the latest firmware and the phone seems incredibly more responsive and the UI is much quicker

another update, the phone is now incredibly faster than before! It might be the new navigator theme (i used the default theme for the 5800 before) but i'm enjoying the phone more than ever. Would actively push users to get this update. I use my phone constantly during the day and its becoming more and more addictive.

So just how complicated is this, have not read all the posts yet.

I am on 30.0.0.11 - MTN blue, have downloaded JAFSetup_1.98.62 but cannot find a source for OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_V3.exe

Seems Euro Black may be used for ^

What else am I missing?

Doing a check via OTA just gives no update available.

Is it worth going for the new version now?

What else do I need?

There has been some mention of these product changing Emulator containing trojans and the like?

Let me know.

Never mind, all done already.

Got tired of the trojans attached to the JAFSetup files, so I went via the NSS route.

Then I changed to British Isles Blue code.

Then ran the NSU and downloaded the 133.3 MB file and upgrade process ran, screen went blank and XP claimed that the USB connection was disconnected.

The upgrade process took around 12 minutes and am now on 31.0.101 :D

NB! You want to run a Backup before you even start on this track, not just to the MMC but also on your PC.

I removed my MMC card just before starting the upgrade.

Did not lose any settings or contact info nor even an email, everything remained intact, but still, better to have backed up and not need it, than find the need for backup and there is none

Ovi Maps on 3.1 and also flips horizontal now, only valid till Jan 2010 :(

Response just feels much faster now, too soon to tell if there are any bugs or issues, its just been twenty minutes since the upgrade

Should I revert to the previous product code now or does it not matter?

Here is the screen snapshot and now off to bed.

Good night all.

Good to hear you got it working, its actually a very easy task to change your product code. There is no need to change back at all.

Did you get the navigator theme as part of the update?

Did your download with NSU also take quite a while?

Now that mention it, nope, no navigator theme included ???

The download was quite quick over my 4mb/s ADSL line.

The phone seems way more responsive overall, not sure of any extra functionality yet.

The video out to TV is also working fine.

Might be the product code i used? Will check my product code and see if i pick up anything funny.

I was downloading a torrent at 300k/s but when i tried NSU it downloaded the update incredbly slow, even navifirm downloaded slow.

I'll see if i can pick up where the theme was installed then post it on here, its a silver type theme and my tube feels like a machine now :)

I would also like to know what product code you used.

I didn't get the navigator theme.

What is the navifirm you are talking about. Guess with having my Blackberry I'm not clued up with the latest developments in the firmware and updates.

I would like to get my 5800XpressMusic up to date as well.

I will connect to my laptop later and confirm my product code and will post it here.

Navifirm is a 26kb app that connects to the nokia firmware servers and lets you browse and download the actual firmware files which you can then put in your NSU folder and then NSU won't connect to the net to download the firmware but will use the files you downloaded with Navifirm. You can then also use JAF or NSS to update your phone's firmware.

your custom version part has c04 mine is c03. i dont have that navigator theme also and used euro 1 black

Since upgrading to v31 I've not been able to use my music player. Refresh my library returns "Process was stopped. 0 files were added" - anyone else have this hassle? Otherwise I'm very happy with the new firmware. Using Euro1 Black, and loving the plain theme.

Haven't had the same problem and i use the music player every day. Best is do a backup and do a hard reset.

When you say plain theme what do you mean?

Plain = Black wave. Lovely - although the new Maemo5 theme from tehkseven is also really nice.

Tried a reset - 2, in fact. Trying OVI Suite now, perhaps it can do something I can't.
