Would a space be considered a funny character, and what about '-'?

Haven't tried without the memory card yet ... I want to make sure first it is not the two other HP devices I am using
A space, no. a '-', no... it's things like 'TAB' characters. To be safe, just try to reset them. I have never had my phone reboot. I use bluetooth a lot.

Ag cr@p ... now my bluetooth on the notebook is not working at all!
Motherless fluffer!

Yep, both paired and authorised ... just reinstalled the Bluetooth components on my Notebook, trying to do a backup ... only time will tell

Edit: Copy Content worked ... now for the phone backup
Edit: A Serious Error happened during the data transfer. The task could not be completed. Please try again.

Ag cr@p
Tiger, I'll try the memory card idea tonight ... thanks for your help thus far!

All Vodafones phones are faster than the normal version. In future everything will be blocked. It does not matter if you buy a branded phone or not in future because the networks want to increase their revenue and they will do what ever they can to make money. Plus not forgetting of DIGITAL RIGHTS...

Hi all,

What is the latest Firmware version for the 'non-branded' 6680?
Mine is:
V 2.04.15
04-03-05
RM-36

How do you check the firmware version? Is it somewhere obvious and I just missed it all along? Or does it have a secret menu like the SE phones?

You key this into the phone:

Dude, what are you talking about? Everything will be blocked?

And don't give me this crap about Vodafones being faster. In the end, the have the same CPU and run Symbian OS8, Series 60 2nd edition. That's like saying because you have an 'HP' badge on your desktop system, it goes faster than if it were the exact same components, but without the badge. LOL

Mother F@cker! Dialed-up perfectly last night ... this morning my headset doesn't want to connect ... tried to connect via dial-up now, and the phone reboots!
Lurvely!
Oh, Tiger, the Memory Card doesn't make any difference, as it is not in at the moment

You are so right Tiger, 'cause we all know the HP badge makes it slower! :D

Damn. Either you've found the perfect hardware that's incompatible with the phone, or the phone does indeed have a problem. You're using so many different devices, I'm trying to think of a way to isolate the problem.

As far I as I might be able to summise, perhaps it's the laptops bluetooth flooding and freezing bluetooth connections some how? I don't know, all I can do is shoot from the hip at this point.

Best thing to do is to test it with other hardware, otherwise, I don't know how to diagnose this problem without sitting in front of the laptop and phone.

One thing you could try, remove the sim card, remove the memory card. Let the phone boot up, key in the hard reset code and let it do its thing. You will lose everything on the phone memory, but that's just one more step you could try. I've done this hard format when I first got the phone, because I didn't want any 'custom' vodacom settings on my phone. But do remember, a HARD FORMAT will erase the C drive and copy all the files the the Read only Rom (Z), which will restore the phone to factory default.

soft reset to standard settings *#7780#

hard reset to format phone *#7370#
(same as the four key thinghy)

Don't forget to backup your contacts onto your sim if it's on phone memory :P

Just don't mess with it while it formats, I.E. Don't turn it off. Wait till it's ready.

In regards to access points, that data is usually stored on the sim card with most new phones. You will however lose any ones that you personally entered. As well as everything else that is stored on the phone.

The lock code will also go back to 12345

Tiger, Eish, I hate doing things like that ... way too much effort afterwards (yeah, I'm lazy). What I reckon I'll do is get another 6680 on my wife's platinum member upgrade, and try that one ... whichever one doesn't work too well with Bluetooth I'll give to her, as she doesn't really need it.

Okay, no problem. I'm one of those people where something HAS TO WORK 100% and I won't stop till it does.

Just FYI, I have read that if you set your call log to 1 day or so, it speeds up the phone. Because after 30 days, if you use your phone a lot, the log builds up. Not sure about it really, but yeah, people have been talking about it. It's worth a shot for me, even though I usually like to see my call log.

Just more info, I just reformatted my phone. Lol, don't ask why, I was checking something. Not that I had any problems, just something was bugging me.

Tiger, I am actually EXACTLY like that ... I will fiddle until I get it right 100%, otherwise I am not a happy camper... I'll see what the day brings, maybe I feel up to it later (not that my Sync Backup works or anything) :(

I also prefer to keep the log for longer though ... Oh, and btw .. I get problems with the USB cable and backup as well ... I remember v3g mentioning something about PC sync 6.6 being a bit dodgy

Tiger, am I correct in assuming that my 64K Sim will be able to handle the 6680's contact database, ie. All info?

Should be able to, yeah. I'm using a 64K sim card as well. Given the nature of Sim card info. Just copy the stuff to sim card, and check it out...

AFAIK, for each field that a sim card does not support, it duplicates another entry and adds the extra info to that. Then when it copies it back from the sim, it intergrates it back into proper format. Argh, maybe do a backup if you can ?
