Nokia 8 Sirocco

It looks like the January security update is rolling out now. Busy installing on my phone. Not sure if it includes any other fixes.

Anyone else having trouble with Google assistant after the Android 9 update ? It doesn't work almost all the time now (and yes, I obviously checked that the settings are on, restarted the phone/turned it on and off, retrained the voice model, etc...). It use to work quite well before Pie, and I found it quite handy when driving.

Yeah good thing it's not just me. Google Assistant often doesn't respond to Ok Google since update.

I saw on some Nokia and Google forums that other users are experiencing the same issue. I also emailed Nokia Support so hopefully they acknowledge that it is a known bug and that they are working on fixing it.

Nokia Support said the following:

"Please, click on Settings > Apps and Notifications > See all apps > Click on the three dots in the upper right corner > Reset app preferences.

Please, click on Settings > Apps and Notifications > See all apps > Google > Storage > Clean cache and data

Please, click on Settings > Apps and Notifications > See all apps > Carrier services > Storage > Clean cache and data

Please, click on Settings - Apps and Notifications - Google - Disabled

Please, perform a soft reset.

Please, press at the same time both volume up and power on keys for 5-10 seconds until you see "power by android" and feel the vibration. This is a safe and quick way to reboot your device without losing or erasing any data.

Please, click on Settings - Apps and Notifications - Google - Enable

You can open Google – > Settings – > Voice – OK Google detection – Say OK Google any time – turn on

Please, try if it works!"
