Nokia 8 Sirocco

I noticed that it started showing how many minutes till fully charge when on standby, but not all the time...

It helps when using different chargers or cables to see which charges fast. S8 had it.

Has not happened to me yet, had mine now a couple of weeks....Pie9 SecPatch 01-04-2019.....
I actually feel my phone to be more responsive now, also somehow the UI looks cleaner, but could be my imagination......

Anyone experience random restarts since the Pie update?

Happens to me once every week or 2nd week.
Normally happens when a System Security update is due. This has been noticed overtime. I like this phone as all works well for me.

Security patch is out.

My Google voice match has gone wonky again. Half the time it detects my voice but asks me to unlock my phone manually :(

MTN has the phone available at R199 on their new made for me Xs I'm happy to pay this price ,how are you finding the phone? I see it doesn't have a micro SD slot? So I would have to go via my PC to transfer my current sd files onto the PC then onto the new phone? How much are screen protectors?

No SD so either via pc or via USB transfer device.
Screen cover all cost the same for all devices, you can get jap crap for like R20 or industrial glass covers for North of R600, all depends on what you prefer to protect your screen with.

Personally I use zagg which are around R300

I do everything in the cloud for file storage.

Can't find screen protectors and most online reviews are bad for what is available. My only complaint. It's curved, so can't use similar sized ones to cover screen completely.

But love my phone, got it 7 months ago.

Zagg goes around the curve just fine

Thanks is zagg available locally or via overseas?

I bought a few hydrogel screen protectors from ebay. They're already cut to size and covers the entire screen including the curve.

Using it for 3 months and it's still working well, the glass screen protectors had to be changed every 2 weeks.

I don't know much about the hydrogel protectora never heard over them, what happened to the glass ones for you to change it every two weeks??

Dunno bout the ones he used but the one I had on my last phone cracked when a fly farted on it.

I was pissed, a lot of money gone on a protector that broke for no reason, no drops, no impacts, no nothing.

Heard from many people about glass ones that break for the most random and arb reasons.

Do you think it has anything to do with the curved parts?

This was long before curved phones. The glass covers are quite literally designed to break, that is Thier actual purpose. They are there to break instead of your screen, the problem is the protector protecting your screen is made out of normal tempered glass which is exponentially more fragile than the industrial strength glass used to make your phone.

Putting a phone will a glass protector in your back jeans pocket and not sitting is enough to crack it. The simple pressure of ur ass muscle when walking can put enough strain on that protector to crack the screen. Assuming your wearing a fitting jeans, a loose fitting jeans not so much, the female 3 sizes too small you'll probably crack it putting it in.

Now think about it, that's meant to protect your screen, yet without it in the same scenario you can site on a hard wooden/metal chair without anything happening to your phone.

These damned glass protectors are a con job.

Also glass protectors are not curved for curved phones, they only cover up until to curves making them even more useless and now you also have like a 3mm ledge on your phone.

They don't stick properly so after some time dirt/dust ends up getting in between the screen protector and the screen. When this happens the screen becomes less responsive due to the dirt/dust being in the way

I disagree. All my previous phones had glass screen protectors and none of them cracked (then again, I'm careful and don't drop my phones). They're more fragile than your phone's screen by design so that they absorb most of the impact instead of your phone.

There are glass protectors that are curved and can cover a screen end to end however I've yet to come across one that's durable though (in terms of sticking to the screen).
