Nokia 8

For those who own the Nokia 8, how has your experience been so far? Performance, UI, speed, camera etc?

As Vodacom is really the only carrier that stocks then at the moment, does the Nokia 8 come with a Vodacom branded ROM?

How has the updates been?

The Nokia 8 is pure Android. There's no branding whatsoever. Updates were really quick when I had the phone. Camera was average and a bit slow but other than that it was a great phone.

So theres no Vodacom boot animation etc?

Do you still own the phone?

Mostly it's down to the post processing, maybe try a different camera app, you can also sideload the Google Pixel camera app

I also read the camera has been laggy since the new Oreo update. But this isnt exclusive just to the Nokia 8. Have read that on multiple phones that have received the update.

Is the Nokia 8 still worth it? There are good deals now for them.

R299/month on Voda and you get a 3310 for free as well

I got mine three weeks ago, it's fast, it's pure Android and it's cheap for what you get. Remember that contract is for new customers only though. The 3310 is just sitting doing nothing at the moment.
I chose the Nokia 8 my wife chose the P20 lite, the Nokia 8 is smaller but it's packing a top of the range kit.

For anyone interested Vodacom has the Nokia 8 for R199pm on Smart XS+, for reference Nokia 5 is also R199pm on Smart XS+

Still a decent device, loving it.

Will test it on wife. Interested to see if she'll see it as an upgrade or downgrade from her Lumia 950 (last of the old Nokia phones rebranded to Msft).

After the last update the camera would probably feel like the Lumia 950s. The overall feel of the device is a lot better then some other phones I've felt for this price point.
