Considering getting this phone to play with as I don't have a Windows Phone device.

Positives:
Big screen - 4.7"
1GB RAM
Dual SIM
R 125-00 per month added to my CellC ontract thus R 3000-00 for the device.

Working on Android I use Tapatalk and Google+ a lot also e-mail 3 IMAP accounts plus Gmail.

Ideas for apps?

I own the 720
I have all the apps I need on my phone, Tapatalk included
You can sync your Gmail + contacts to it
If you need Google specific apps - forget it
Easiest OS to use of them all

...and comes with free flame suit

Ditto, 720 has been a pleasure to use, 730 is vastly improved. Now if I can only get my 720 back from Vodacare after the SD slot stopped working ;0)

Hangouts?

I heard something isn't available on the SA store (as always). How hard is it to buy from other stores?
 
If an app is not available in the SA store, but is available in another Store, say the US, then just change your locaton to the US and reboot.

Download the app and then change your location back to SA. Easy! :-)
 
Seeing you have programming skills is it possible to create a Google+ app for Windows Phone?

Not sure about the available APIs but Google isn't very friendly to WP and I don't know of anyone that actually uses G+.

Google Calendar also syncs now ; I remember reading this was a problem, some time ago.

Might get one of these phones, but only directly from overseas if someone will bring it across ; they periodically have good specials on all Windows Phones in the US - not prepared to pay the inflated prices they charge here.
 
Windows phone is awesome. The other plus to Lumia devices is that the batteries last forever on a charge.
There are normally alternative apps for things you cant find native ones for.
The only thing I dont have that I used to use is strava but then it wouldnt be much use on a 6" phone!
 
What about the 735? It would be the one that I want, but it doesn't seem to be available locally. Could anyone here prehaps give some feedback?
 
How's the camera on the phone? I'm taking a look at getting one in the next few days but I really want a good camera

The only difference is LTE. You can get it on the Orange online store
