Nokia Lumia 730

No, wireless charging isn't standard. We have 2 in our house - both my kids - and I have swapped with my daughter to try out WP8 for the next 2 weeks. To make it worthwhile, I'm blogging about it. :/

The 730 is a really nice mid-range phone. Very responsive.

Great, read your first entry and looking forward to reading of your experience. Just try not to duplicate your old phone, but embrace the Windows Phone way of doing things. It may just grow on you ... or not!
 
So I got my wife a 730. And it came with wireless charging. Quite nice. Camera is great and that Lumia Camera software is insanely well done. Best thing about the phone so far is Cortana, I cannot believe how crazy accurate it is. I can almost have a conversation. Only thing is it is set to America so nothing is displayed in the metric system (if accessed through Cortana)

And there are a decent amount of apps, she has replaced all her apps that she had on her android. And good god is the UI smooth, no lagging and the phone feels really solid.

Good point. Posted my second entry seconds ago. I like the idea of embracing the new way - to be honest, I'm still working out how best to use Live Tiles, and I didn't really use Widgets in Android. Any ideas/links welcome.

Live tiles keep you updated, if you have a Tapatalk notification or WhatsApp message, you'll see a counter on the tile.

There are different tile designs, BBM will show you who sent the message and part of the message.
 
Yup, spent a while yesterday figuring out which tiles work best for me. Still enjoying the phone.

Yes, Yes it is.
Im trying to move over to my Huawei P6 as my Lumia 1320 is to big to be my daily driver. I'm finding this extremely difficult since the Lumia outperforms the "higher spec" Huawei on each and every turn. Just as my previous S4, this Android device is turning out to be more of a burden than anything else.

One thing I cant get my head around, most smartphones uses more or less the same hardware, And drivers are available for all the devices regardless, why cant we load WP on other devices?, You have a device like the Huawei p6 which has brilliant specs, but a pathetic, un-optimized resource hungry android OS which lags the entire time, If I could load WP on this device, it would run like a dream.

It could potentially be that Qualcomm chips are digitally signed for only specific Operating systems. Thought I'm just guessing here. The other issue might be getting certain things like NFC to work on a win phone takes a different approach to NFC on android. Currently I am still stuck with my Xperia V, and holy hell can I not wait to go over to win.
 
Is there any way to get this phone locally without getting it on contract at CellC?

You could buy it from them??? Not too sure on that though.
I think in a little bit the other networks might start stocking the phone as well. I am waiting on the 830.
 
Usually they are crazy with the Prepaid price, especially if they are "exclusively" stocking it - wanted something like R 13 000 for the 1520 when it came out. Also like the 830 a bit more, but I specifically want the 730 dual sim. - Don't think there is an 830 dual sim option.

AFAIK there is not one. Maybe you should just try the grey import path then? I don't really see another option other than maybe waiting a little while.
I have inserted a second sim into the phone. And the wife has been using it daily like that. Has little impact on the battery. Works great, it's easy to switch between which one you want to to call from. Same with messaging. Data is a little bit of a bastard to set up, but once it is set up it stays like that.

She's even using the white theme on the phone, so obviously the screen uses more battery. And I'm just amazed at how it keep going.

I did put a 64GB memory card in there as well as a test. It detected it fine and gave me the option to store all apps and media on the memory card. Or choose individually which I want to move. No noticeable lag if I move large apps like game to memory card and load them from memory card.

Depending on the screen using the white theme doesn't affect battery life.

Was gonna say that myself. The 730 has an LCD screen, so colour makes little difference to battery life. I'm using dark wherever I can, purely because it blends so nicely with the black borders.

<sigh> Such a lovely screen...
