Hi guys

Right, I am wanting a Nokia Lumia 920 as per the title. I like the xbox integration, great camera and LTE, bla bla.

I want to use it (once LTE is available in my area) for gaming, so I would need at least 5 gig of data. My problem is that 8ta do not appear to be releasing the 920 anytime soon/at all.

I am a bit of a noob when it comes to this, but I was thinking, would it be possible for me to take the phone out on a say Vodacom smart standard contract, but also take out the 8ta internet 5 promo, and use the sim from 8ta in my phone when i want to connect to the internet and play on xbox live?

I would really love to just have one bill for my phone and data, and avoid Telkom for internet completely. LTE seems like it will do the trick for gaming.

8Ta is Telkom.

ADSL is always going to be the best for gaming though

Yes I know they are Telkom.
Adsl is the best, but my exchange was getting congested, so by the time i cancelled it was not very good at all. Plus I hate paying for line rental when I do not use a landline at all. LTE really seems like a viable option.

Finally with a sprog on the way, I have convinced the wife that its a good thing to have a decent camera on our cells to capture moments. (We both have ancient Blackberrys at the moment)

I dunno hey, The 920 feels "nicer" in my hands compared to the S3. As for weight, my second phone at the moment is an original Sony Ericsson xperia. Now that is a brick and a half :P

I had a go on the 920 last night and was bloody impressed. My wife who normally does not give a damn about these things has even decided she wants her own one.

Have had mine for a while. It is awesome, you won't regret it. Also I agree it does feel better in your hands, check on youtube, it is also semi-indestructible!

You should be able to use your 8ta SIM in it as well.

What you want to do.... Is what I do!!!! MTN Lumia 920, just swap the SIM out and put in the 8ta one. 8ta speeds are great also (in Centurion). I play Diablo 3 online with very few hassles, its better than my ADSL line for gaming.

Can't wait to get mine, I see I've got LTE coverage now from Vodacom, but it's still 4 months till my upgrade :( /cry

BTW guys, try the MTN store in Brooklyn, Pretoria if you looking for a Lumia 920, I got mine from there. They always have good service when I go to them (Got my iPhone 4 from them 2 years ago, the only store I found that had stock)

I also called MTN in Centurion Mall, they also had stock, but I hate the service they provide.

That's exactly what I was thinking!!! So the phone is not network locked or anything.. great stuff!
However now I see that Cell c's LTE trial falls in my area ( Vodacom etc do not) .. So maybe I will go with that.

Whats the upside of using the phone to connect ?

I do suggest getting a separate modem for the 3g though. Unless you have another phone to use while you are using your 8ta sim to connect.
