Nokia N70 [on Vodacom]

Took my N70 phone in for a firmware upgrade when I was up in JHB 2 weeks ago. I took it to Nokia (exactmobile) at vodaworld.

Nokia tried to charge me for the firmware upgrade. They said it is standard to pay for the upgrade if you are not experiencing any problems with the phone. So if you are going to take your phone in to them to get upgraded, don't get caught out!

@v3g - Is there no way Vodacom as a company can lean on Nokia overseas and let them know about the pathetic service exactmobile is giving customers locally. I went to HelloPeter.com and its ridiculous the number of complaints there. Surely they are doing the Nokia brand major damage here in SA. Plus the fact that they NEVER have any accessories available.

AFAIK the policy has always been that whilst a Nokia is still under warranty or whatever, firmware upgrades are free...

Thats what I thought. I wonder how many people they have actually caught out? They must be making some quick bucks

Hence my suggestion that Nokia be shaken up locally - The other option is to take your phone to Vodacare for the firmware upgrade.

No, their salary is made up with repairs and they are employed on a contract basis. The usual target is 17-20 phones a day before comeback deductions.

Talking about exactmobile, anyone know why the RF group lost the agency here? I think I missed something!!

Edit: I see Nokia changed it's distribution process, probably why exactmobile do it now. Apparently the founder of RF and his sone are the majority shareholders in exactmobile.
