Nokia N82 Black

idd... so Lance you going to get yourself a black N82? Black is beautiful:D

I know it is... :)

But I am getting my phone on contract and I have not seen too many N82 blacks offered. I initially thought definitely black but the silver looks good too so not really fussed - after all us N82 owners are not concerned about how pretty our phones look! ;)

hehehe... you funny...

The N82 GPS is the best you will find in any phone.
Just Nokia Maps without voice guidance, but Garmin XT works just fine if you install it.

I did a few battery tests:

On full battery charge - 20 hours of radio at a reasonable volume.
On full battery charge - 660 photos WITH red-eye double flash AND autofocus for every picture.

I am astounded. This phone just rocks my world. Rock solid performance by N82.

I have very bad news.

I have found a dead pixel on my N82 (took a long time to find though :p).

Though this is exactly the reason why I did not buy some Chinese import, but from a South African distributer, namely PremiumPhones.

They collect and repair for free anytime during my 1 year warranty =) They say they can get my N82 fixed, so good times.

Still an awesome phone btw.
I bought my phone from PremiumPhones too, but it arrived around 1-2 weeks late because apparently their shipment (from Hong Kong) was held up at customs. They apologised profusely, and were polite, but it still left the whole experience somewhat soured.

That said, I'm enjoying my black N82 too. :) I have some mild complaints, though they seem to be inherent in the Nseries rather than problems with this particular phone. Basically, a phone should work perfectly out-of-the-box. You shouldn't have to mod your phone to make it work well. In particular, the email functionality sucks. (You have to manually enter all of your settings - really shouldn't have to, considering many phones store the settings to popular email providers like Gmail natively.) The interface for a lot of things is poorly thought-out. Settings are nested 3-8 layers deep; same with the camera interface. They should have made use of number keys as shortcuts. That said, this was also my first phone purchase - quite a hefty one at that - but one I'm satisfied with.

I wonder if there's a decent cover though. I'm currently using one of those soft plastic ones (cost around R129). Not really happy with it, and I regret purchasing that. A leather cover would be hot. :P
