Nokia N93

The Nokia N93 has not as yet been approved by MTN nor Vodacom, hence is not available on any of their contract packages.

There is grey stock of N93 floating around at about R 5500, however, the stock is not warranted in SA

why do our networks take longer to approve and release new phones??

The N93 has received ICASA approval,

We are expecting stock by 20 September,

Price about R 6 900, with a 2yr warranty,

any update?

Hi, I see u 'confirmed' MTN would get stock by 20 September? I've also contacted MTN early in the year and they said they would get stock during the 4th quarter. On Sat (16/09/2006) I went into the MTNSP outlet in Century City and they didn't even know. I was added to the waiting list though
So I just wanna know if ANYONE can confirm the arrival of the N93?

Thanks
:D

I did not mention MTN anywhere, we shall be getting our stock by 20 September. When I say we, I mean eXactmall. Our sister company Swiftcom is a Nokia distributor for South Africa.

MTN haven't smelt the N93 as yet, why wait ?

Oh I c

Sorry bud, u c that's why I'm a junior member, duh! :D

I followed the thread and saw MTN_Data_Dude also responded and that set me off on the MTN thing. Sorry.

Guess I'll have to wait for MTN to get their act together. I'm also on the waitin list at Virgin Mobile so hopefully somethin will come of it.

Thanks
Fiekus

Just saw the N93 advertised on the virginmobile web-site.

If you take it over 24 months, including a R100 talk-time voucher, it works out to R389 pm and u get 56 mins airtime. Too expensive for that deal as with my MTN Pro-Call 220 package it's exactly the same price but I get 220 mins anytime.

One thing I can't understand about "phone not approved" for MTN, Vodacom, etc... We are a 3rd world country, how the h_ll would they use these phones in 1st world countries and we tell them no it's not good enough for SA use.

MTN,VC get your act together!!! Do you think us guys (end users) are really so dof!

Someone mentioned that ICASA (Ivy's Call And Supporter Army) must approve all these mobile phones.

Now that's Ivy's team - and they don't do anything in a hurry.

That might be the hold-up?

Phone approval is not a process to check that the phone works in general but it ensures that in a specific country and network it does not interfere with locally regulated frequencies and health stipulations, it seamlessly delivers network-specific services (for instance, compatibility with the USSD systems), it adapts to the unique radio parameters used on the network in terms of quality and functionality, etc.

The distribution of these phones to different areas of the world at different times is also subject to group-deals and target markets set by the manufacturer (compare Xbox, iPod, etc).

Hahaha

The "Ivy-Team" probably don't know how the phones work. So until they understand how it works it can not be approved.:D :D
