Nokia N95 Maps License problem

You can choice how long you want to purchase the license for. 3 years is around R750. The license is JUST for voice navigation. The software itself includes updates of maps, cities, roads, etc as part of the package.

Thank you just taken time to read the other Thread that was started with the phone. I hope in future someone makes a free Navigation voice software R20 a month for Navigation voice but if u use it everyday. Sure its cool :)

Mine is doing the same - everytime I run navigation it wants to copy it over to my new sim...and doesnt save it!

Anyone managed to fix it yet? Google doesnt have much :(

I received the following email from Openbit (the people that manages the licences on behalf of Nokia):

issue and will contact you shortly when this problem is solved.

If you want, I can also refund your purchase.

Go to Plan Route put the details example Eastgate shopping centre to Westgate shopping centre then Options - Show Route there u go :0
I think this is what u looking for on the Map itself it doesn't show the arrows to turn left or right. I could be mistaken.

you can plan route for free; it is the navigation for which you need a license. You can follow the route on "plan route" if you have a person following the map on your Nokia and giving you the instructions; it certainly gives a fairly good idea of the quality of the system before you decide on the licensing.

Just the petrol stations were off set by 100m or so

The upgrade is definately worth it! Just finished updating maps on SA, Italy, France and US to my memory card (as I visit those places often) The search function is excellent! I entered Romans (pizza place) and it showed Romans restorante in Italy as well LOL

MTN Contract Users License Transfer Error

The problem lies with the service provider(MTN in my case).

This is the response from OPENBIT(managing the licensing):

MTN should maybe have their handsets properly network tested PRIOR to release!!! Come on MTN - raise your game:D

The problem with the license has been solved. I have received mail from Openbit and can confirm that my Navigation is working 100% with no re-entering of any codes!!!

Navigation is a great feature and worth the extra R700 odd rand.

ok im a bit confused now. On my phone, the first time i tried the gps, i set the route and when i chose "Start Simulation", it asked me if i wanted to download the voice navigation. Press ok and it starts downloading. So currently, when ever i choose a simulation of my route, it gives me voice prompts and the maps move with arrows n stuff. The moment i choose Start navigation, it asks me if i want to purchase a license. So if i do purchase this license, wtf am i actually paying for if i already have the voice prompts?

The simulation shows you what the navigation will do in real time. U can't follow the simulation in real time... it's almost like a demo. The navigation will do what the simulation does but as you move(real-time), and also give extra options like fastest/shortest route and dynamic route change.

We have tested the N95 navigation software and found it to work perfectly. The cost for the license is not charged by MTN and MTN does not receive a share of the license fee. There is no reason why any MTN subscriber should have a problem buying this license as all of the information required to both buy the licence and use the software is simply data transfered over our data network.

So where do I go to purchase Navigation?

N95 Sham

I am glad you guys are so Civil about this. I think I have spent 3hours on the phone with nokia's support desk and I can tell you, once you have given out that 8 Grand nokia could not care less. It was a difficult choice moving from Sony Ericcson but the GPS, what a draw card.

I am happy for you that have managed the miracle of voice navigation with the built in app, I have had to resort to nav4all www.nav4all.com. It is free till 2010 so, no adverts but also, not prety street rendering. I do not like how it looks but it works.

Nokia's flagship is for fools like me. Buying without reading the small print.

Paying Card

Hello

My boss has managed to get his Navigation working. He used Master card and I have Visa. Is there anyone experiencing this on Visa in general or it is just me.
