Nokia N95 @ Vodacom??

Damn, that seriously makes the N95 ??useless?? that would be a word that comes to mind. Any phone that has such large scale capabilities disabled would be seriously crippled like this.

I guess they are trying to protect their customers from security issues, but also at the same time preventing them from using software like fring, Mxit etc You cant load those applications right? If it prevents third party installations that hasn't been signed with vLive authenticity?

Na got around that Mxit is working though im not i big user of Mxit and for those who cant use use it use wap.2go.co.za you can still speak to your mxit contacts. The main problem is opening streaming audio downloading music and content music videos etc

Are there any Nokia Agents available for comment how do we remove these files or unbranned these phones i dont care how Vodacom feels about me removing their precious marketing the phone still has a 2 year warr provided by the manufacturer.

How to De-Brand your Vodafone Live N95...

What you need:
N95
USB Cable
Nokia PC Suite
Nemesis System Suite

What to do:
Connect your phone to pc via usb.

Open up Nemesis and change the product code on your phone to 0536062.

Then go to pc suite and follow the normal update procedure and you'll end up with the Euro 1 - Plum firmware.

Enjoy :-)

Howzit guys. Ive got the branded Vlive Nokia N95 and I cannot update software at all. How can i unbrand the phone and what are the effects because i don wanna regret it afterwards? and also is it reversable?

Thanx
GERADUS

You can unbrand following the above steps using NSS. It is not reversible.

I would seriously reccomend you not to use NNS, it can most deffinitly void your warranty, you can go to nokia and tell them you want the original nokia firmware and they will load it, or you can just get NSU and update it that way.

MXit does work with the N95, when you are installing, if it does not get allowed saying security error goto your application manager and go to the suite settings and allow aplications to be installed!

I want to upgrade the firmware on my Vodacom N95, I want the Vodafone stuff off and clean software on.
I also would like Vodacom to do it so who do I talk to, any ideas?

so whats the cheapest package to get the N95 on from vodacom?

I think we should check every week/month for lower prices :)

sorry for noob Question but could someone post a link to Nemesis system suite as googling gets me nowhere please

Debranding

Howzit guys. Just thought i'd let you know what happened to my vodafone branded N95. (AH I HATE VODAFONE LIVE SOFTWARE)..

firstly I changed the product code to euro 1 using nemesis, i then backed up my phone memory and then updated to v11 firmware from v10. all went well and my phone was debranded perfectly.

BUT....., when i restored my phone memory data i had backed up, the phone crashed and turned off. when i turned it back on, it said on the screen, "Phone startup failed. Contact retailer".. i was distraught.

I took it to vodacare in sandton immediately and the technician there told me it has to go into high-level repair. He said the N95 with a vodacom sim inside will not work without vodafone live software (which is a major lie).

And he said it'll take 20 days to repair and that it will have vodafone live software on it when i get it back which is not what i want at all.

It's ridiculous! Im furious!

The reason the technician lied is because he doesn't want every N95 user debranding their phones from Vlive software because vlive creates business and revenue for vodacom.

So the verdict is that if you want to debrand your N95 you can either

1) take it to a NOKIA store (not vodacare of vodashop) or
2) Use nemesis and do it yourself but you will lose your phone memory and you won't be able to restore it because the phone will crash.

I thought it was covered somewhere in this thread that restoring your data after a re-flash is a surefire way to turn your phone into a really expensive paper weight :(

Yes, that has been said on almost every forum where the N95 is discussed.

I'll still wait for the firmware to be available for my N95 without having to change the product code.

Depends - restoring from a memory card backup will cause problems, restoring from a PC Suite backup will not.
