true, you also have to change your product code back to the origional before you do the restore. mine worked perfectly.
 
I am using V10 Unbranded firmware at the current time as stated somewhere already I think, but I would like to get hold of V12... still no news from PC Suite Updater for the South African N95

There is no V12 - I just checked all the product codes. Latest is V11.

Also, the SA update would be very low on the priority list for the N95, so it's anyones guess when it will be available on Updater. If you want new FW and you don't want to mess around with NSS etc, I suggest you take it to Nokia and tell them to update.

The difference in UI speed between V11 and V10 is considerable, I suggest you update your FW.
 
Isnt V12 the one with external GPS support or was that a joke of some kind?
 
It's not external GPS support, it is A-GPS, where your position in the GSM grid is used to provide cooridinates for a much faster GPS lock. This is indeed in the V12 FW, but V12 is still in beta and not released yet.

Not a joke then, just not available at the moment.
 
so, getting back on track here, when exactly will Vodacom stop pi$$ing off its customer base and give the N95 away free on a decent package?
 
That's very simple - it is an actual calculation where X is the amount subsidized on a certain package (with X being variable from package to package). So, it will be free when the volume purchase price of the handset falls below X.

In other words, your guess is as good as anyone else's.
 
You're right - for that 'x' amount, you're tied into a contract for 2 years!!!

its like a marriage with a hot 18 year old girl, you have fun for the first 8 months, then realise that there are newer models that do more, and now your stuck until she realises she made a mistake and divorces you.
 
No i am all you guys do is sit and complain dont see any of you finding the required link "Google"
 
Further more the last time i checked when you sign a contract the heading for it was "Individual Credit Application and Airtime Contract" and not "Handset Contract" dont need maths to add that one up.
 
The only way i see the cost of the N95 comming down on contract is if the USD drops "unlikely"
 
If it wasnt for iTalk and their ProCall 120 deal, id be without my N95
 
If it wasn't for Italks birthday deal you'd still be without your N95 i guess good thing truley do only happen once a year.

You're absolutely rite there buddy.But Vodacom also celebrated recently and as i indicated some while back, N95 will not be free on Vodacom.Heck,it aint even free on MTN. So whatever Italk is doing, they're really doing it right. :o

Besides what does it matter if you take out another contract with MTN in addition to your Voda 1. Just get the phone and pop in the Voda SIM cos the MTN N95 is sim-locked free.or even better,if you dont want 2 contracts,convert your Voda SIM to a pay as you go and get the phone from MTN...... then you're happy, MTN is happy and Vodacom is happy..... yay!!!! :rolleyes:
