Question of the Day: Have you ever ordered a product online and received a fake knock-off?
I like Symbian and Android looks cool. To be honest, I don't think Google should win, as they seem to take over everything they can get their hands on. Nokia on the other hand are the cellular giants who shouldn't get too comfy either.

Choice is always nice to have, so is it good or bad to have a dominant Mobile OS. I agree the big boys can fight it out, But are they not each designing their own wheel (and hardware)? And how hardware imdependant will these OS's be? Or is it built into a chip(s) and device engineers design the periferie (spelling??) around one or two building blocks???
May a dominat OS then become the "de facto" standard?

This sounds like a good counter from Nokia in an attempt to keep their market share as is, or to increase it. Android is a real threat to Symbian and thus Nokia at the moment and changing to open source will even out the playing field somewhat.
thanks nokia! now someone could could make some decent apps!

i think the imminent threat to nokia is not so much google android, but apple with the iphone and it's app store. this move by nokia was something that shows they still have the guts and tactics that got them their market share in the first place.
i personally think that google's android was an altruistic effort and that this shaking of the market was exactly what they had hoped to achieve by it.
